I have been a Comcast customer for eight years, but their bait and switch tactics finally got me to cut the cable. I signed on for the Internet promotional rate of $29.95 for six months, and then got them to extend the promotion another six months until June 2010--so they said. I called on 11/19/2009 to get the promotion flow into a seamless bill so that I wouldn't see my bill higher than what Comcast promised. Wrong. When I went online to pay my bill on 12/13/2009 and expected to see $42 or so, I saw a $65 bill and I went ballistic. I am so tired of playing this game with Comcast, they are liars, they promise a fair rate then bill you for a higher rate.

I am tired of spending 15 minutes on the phone with 15 different people tell the same story 15 different times--why can't they just deliver a "good customer" rate all the time? I am not willing to pay $50 a month to be online! Granted, the cable internet is good when it works and the speeds are tremendous compared to dialup. But when I saw my bill about 50% higher than it should be, I called and complained and the comcrapic representative hung up on me. That was it. That was the last time I wanted to play the fool. So I just calmly called back (I was beyond livid, actually) and said don't argue with me, just cancel the service. I'm going back to dialup. I'm not going to make you rich while I struggle to make ends meet. I'm only online a little bit, and it's not worth what Comcast is charging. So Comcast lures you in with what you think is a great rate, then they bill you for a higher rate.

You have to constantly monitor every line of your bill to make sure there are no hidden charges. I got so tired of doing that, so I thought, I'm just not going to do it anymore, and I am not the only one cutting Comcast off. I'm back on dialup now for $6.95 a month and it works just fine. Comcast seems to want a total monopoly of the airwaves and eventually, world domination. How much money is enough? The cable lines were installed decades before Comcast's hostile takeover, and it doesn't cost them another dime to bring the signal into my home, yet they want to rip me off with exorbitant cable rates. I'm not paying it, and I am encouraging others to do the same, on every website, every forum, every blog. Let's put them out of business. We want affordable television and cable, not rip-off prices that are bait and switch. Boooo Comcast! Boooo!
