When I signed up with Comcast several years ago I purchased the bundle package which inluded phone, cable, and HIGH SPEED internet. Everything was great until a month or so ago and I've noticed that my HIGH SPEED internet is not as fast as it use to be. I called Comcast and told them about the speed of my internet connection and she asked when was the last time I rebooted my modem. I said it's been awhile...why? She said it needs to be rebooted every three months. I asked why didn't they tell me that when I first signed up for the bundle package. So she said to hang up and she would reboot it. Well guess what...IT'S STILL SLOW!

I am no computer dummie and know about deleting temp files, refrag, run ad-aware and registry mechanic scans, etc. which I do regularly, but my computer has slowed down BIG time. I've noticed lately when I call Comcast their always asking about increasing my internet connection with POWER BOOST.

My suspicians are Comcast has slowed down their high speed internet which everyone signed up for to get consumers to upgrade (pay more money) for POWER BOOST. This is baloney and I encourage all of you who are having the same problem to file a complaint with the www.fcc.gov. COMCAST IS SCAMMING CONSUMERS!!!

Constant outages in cable tv.

AUTHOR: Yahtheyscrewedme - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, February 24, 2009

I happen to be, unfortunately, a customer of Comcast as well.

I have had a problem with their service since the first day it was hooked up. Every night at around the same time, usually between 9 and 11 pm sometimes at 5 pm and sometimes around noon, my digital cable tv cuts out every couple of seconds, for at least 10-15 minutes.

I have talked to Comcast several times, they have sent several technicians out to "fix" the problem. Nothing has helped, they have tested and re-ran the cable from the pole to the set top box, replaced the set top box, etc. Funny thing is, it doesn't happen when the TV is plugged straight into the cable. I also noticed that while this is happening, I check my cable modem (192.168.100.1) and figure out that the Signal to Noise ratio has dropped from 39 to around 24.

The last time I contacted them, they tried to re-initiate the "troubleshooting" steps, (unplug the box, etc) and I told them

"No, this is what YOU need to do... Contact your supervisor, elevate this to the Third tier, and get someone out here to inspect the node in my area, My neighbors have the same exact problem at the same exact time, and you guys have been out here SEVERAL times. If I have to call about this problem ONE MORE TIME, I am going to be cancelling all of my services, I have a dish on my roof, and a box to get FreeToAir tv is only 150$, and I can pick up free wifi legally, and I will advise EVERYONE I KNOW to do the same, sure beats paying you for the service you promise but I don't receive. Get your *^&$ together, good day."

Do not get POWER BOOST

AUTHOR: A - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, November 26, 2008

First, I got it from the horses mouth, an actual comcast tech support guy, that Power boost is worthless. Something about if you dont have DSL then dont even buy into something being faster because you have a line that you share with other people. I may be getting the wording wrong, but this made pretty good sense. I always notice its faster at 2 am as opposed to 5 pm when people are getting off work, so how can they guarantee a faster speed at any time unless its something like a direct service line or fiber optics.

With that said, My husband had to call comcast about our cable not working. It was a constant occurance at our home. The rep on the phone talked him into two months of free power boost, since we were moving in a month we said "of course," Thought that since we wont be paying for it, why not try it out.

Well, oddly enough no one came to our home and our internet speed actually got WORSE. I have to wonder why they have to come to cut your cable on and charge you outragious fees, but when it comes to downgrading your service or cutting it off, they never have to come.

Both my husband and I are avid gamers, so we keep our computers top notch, it was ridiculous the problems we had with the "power boost" service. We had constant problems with the internet just shutting off, we even bought a new modem thinking that was the problem, it wasnt. We never called and confronted comcast about this since we were moving, but im almost 100% positive that Power Boost is just a ripoff to get an extra 10 dollars a month out of you.
