My daughter was near death needing help with a drug addiction. She entered the Compass Desert Hope Facility on 3/9/2013. They are state funded, but they cursed her out treated her badly and sent her walking down the street at 4am. How dare them treat someone like this just because they had been using drugs, this company needs to be investigated and closed because its a direct violation of the state funds, that they receive to help people. I will file complaints until something is done about this company.

Yes, I am sure you want to think that your daughter is the best and she may well be, but there is some reality that there may be some major denial going on.

You stated "My daughter doesnt lie and cheat for drugs".  So as a working class family, where she is(was) in school.  Have you ever seriously confronted her with where she is getting the money for the drugs?

"She tested positive for HIV, and thinks it could be a false positive".  Of course she is going to say that, but do YOU really believe that?  It may not only be your daughter who is in denial.

You also stated.."she went outside to smoke a cigerette to calm her nerves, when she came back inside they handed her belongings and said they would have to reprocess her and dont have the time to mess with her paperwork, this was at 4am".  Most treatment facilities have an overnight curfew that may be anywhere from 8-9PM to 6-7AM the next morning.  If your daughter went outside at 4AM it is very likely that she violated this curfew so they had to kick her out.

Hopefully you have figured this out, but a drug addict will say just about anything to manipulate the situation.  Of course they are going to say that they treated her badly..because they are probably not letting her do what she wants to do.  After all with the cigarette incident, you said that she needed to go outside because they cursed at her and "looked down" on her.   Why would they be doing that at 4AM in the morning?  Did you ever talk to the center to get their story?  How exactly does she say they looked down on her?

Look, I really hope that all works out for your entire family.  But a first part of this recovery may be for you to take a step back and look at what situation your daughter really is in.

My daughter doesnt lie and cheat for drugs she has cried to me for days about wanting help. She tested positive for HIV, and thinks it could be a false positive. She is a very beautiful girl, and people are always giving her drugs to try to take advantage of her. The only reason she went to Tucson was to help her father who was going through cancer treatment. She has been there (compass) before and said they treated her very badly. She was willing to go back because she wants help badly. She was in her 3rd year of college trying to become a radiologist, and now she has put her education on hold. She is a kind hearted but easily an persuaded young lady. Our family works paycheck to paycheck, so we cannot afford the 25,000 to get her into a quality treatment center. She went to Compass for help, after the staff cursed at her and looked down on her she went outside to smoke a cigerette to calm her nerves, when she came back inside they handed her belongings and said they would have to reprocess her and dont have the time to mess with her paperwork, this was at 4am when they sent her walking down the road. I am angry about how they can do this and justify they help people. This is a state funded program how dare they treat anyone seeking help worse than animals. I need to investigate this place a little further but they do not deserve state funds as far as i am concerned.

"Some common concerns of persons entering Desert Hope Detoxification for the first time:Am I eligible for Detox? You are eligible if you are currently enrolled in the Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS) or are eligible for AHCCCS. If you do not know your eligibility status, please contact us and we can assist you in finding out.Everyone who comes in to Compass is welcome to an assessment and referral to the appropriate program or provider, if needed. Can I afford detoxification treatment?Yes! The cost of most other treament programs is beyond the reach of most families. NOT OURS!Compass will complete a financial eligibility screening for all clients to determine individual cost. We follow the AHCCCS co-pay schedules and there may be a small, manageable co-pay for treatment. Some of our other services, such as Outpatient treatment, are available for self-pay on a sliding scale."

Does she meet the requirements?
Has she been there before?
Was she hostile to them?

Remember, addicts will lie, steal and cheat (from ANYONE) to further their cause..I DO know this through experience.

"this company needs to be investigated and closed because its a direct violation of the state funds, that they receive to help people"

Wouldn't "investigating and closing" them prevent them from helping anyone?  What a solution.

Best of luck in getting your daughter to help herself, that's a pre-requisite.  Ultimately, it's up to her.
