In October 2014 around 8:45 pm, Dominion Wrecker towed my daughter's car from my apartment complex within a matter of minutes. I swapped cars with my daughter, who attends school elsewhere in Virginia. After trading cars with my daughter, I arrived back to my residence, and I had to run inside my apartment to pick up the parking pass to place in my daughter's car. By the time I retrieved the parking pass from my apartment Dominion Wrecker had already towed my car, which was weird because I did not even see them when I had pulled into the parking lot, but then again, this was my normal routine so I did not think this would have been a possibility.

I was frazzled and upset because here I am standing in the parking lot, that had at least 25 open spaces just where I was standing, and I called to inform the operator that my car was towed and that I am a resident with my parking pass in my hand. I even explained that I had just pulled into the parking lot and went into my apartment to retrieve the visitor's pass to place in my daughter's car. I stated "ma'am I literally saw the driver turn the corner with the car, so would it be possible to have the driver return the vehicle since I was retrieving the parking pass?" I was placed on a very long hold. I had to hang up, I called back and it was the same lady, she placed me on hold again. This time I held, when she came back to my call she asked me "what did you need?" I stated I was holding to see if the driver would return my vehicle since I was making the effort to place a parking pass in the vehicle when he towed it.

The lady operator yelled at me and told me I would have "to pay $160.00", then she hung up on me. Keep in mind she never told me where the vehicle was going or where to go to retrieve the vehicle. I called back, and she placed me on hold again. After holding for another 10 minutes I asked the lady operator if she could provide me the address and she rambled off something and hung up again. I had to call back because I felt jilted and like I was being mistreated and taken advantage of, so I asked to speak with a manager. Naturally she said she was the person I had to speak to and hung up on me again.

Ultimately I had to get the information from the police department to retrieve the vehicle and according to the police dispatch there was nothing I could do except to bring the incident to the attention of the property management company or to pursue them civilly. The next day I day to take a bus with my youngest daughter to retrieve the vehicle, I called to inquire of the exact location and the guy on the other end yelled and screamed at me and hung up on me. All because I stated I was not sure of where they were located because I was walking.

When we arrived to pay the $160.00, I could smell a STRONG odor marijuana "weed" smoke blowing out of the windowed office. The guy behind the window did not even look up to look me in my eyes because I made a comment about the odor. To make things even crazier there were beer bottles on the front stoop of the shacky building. So I guess they feel they can use the law to back them with questionable towing tactics but as for them it's okay to break the rules (law) by smoking weed, (in a company setting) and possibly drinking and driving tow trucks throughout the county and the local highways. I should not have been surprised about what I saw and smelled, the actions of the employees are conducive to the mission and values of this company.
