I had worked out payments with this company, but lost my job and defaulted. They went to a county where I did not live, filed a judgement and I had no notification of it or any court date. When they won the default they went to my bank and withdrew money from an account where I was holding some of my elderly father's money for his care. They have dirty practices and should be stopped.

It looks like Rip Off Report redacted my links on how to fight debt collector lawsuits for Hanna and Zwicker, and for help blogs. For help with the lawsuits you can do a Google search for a book and webtsite by Allen Harkleroad titled “Stick it to sue happy debt collectors.” The help blog I linked is Next Level Unlimited Credit. I do not have any stake in any of these sites, I am just posting to try to help other consumers. I do understand why Rip Off Report redacts links though.

The Georgia Supreme Court says Hanna is a "law firm," so you have to submit a bar complaint vs. them (and not a consumer complaint with the state OCA or federal FCC -- but fine if you do that too anyway). You may submit a bar complaint vs. Fred Hanna (the owner of the "firm") and any atty. that may have contacted you that also violated bar rules for atty.s:
(Call and ask for a bar complaint, and if they have them online):
State Bar of Georgia
www.gabar.org
104 Marietta St. NW, Suite 100
Atlanta, Georgia 30303

See below for info. on where to look for sample do-not-call letters vs. Hanna, and how to fight Hanna lawsuits and WIN (feel free to post on here too for more info.):

You may have a very good case to have the judgment vacated.
You probably are a victim of what is known as "Sewer Service". This is where they file and "Serve" you at an address they know you are not at. This is so that they can get a default judgment against you without your knowledge. If you had payment arrangements with them the most likely had your current address as well, so if they filed it with another address that is a pretty easy thing to prove.
To do this you do need to go to contact the Clerk of the court where the suit was filed. You are particularly interested in the "Proof of Service". Once you have that you can file a motion to vacate the judgment. If that is granted the attachment will be lifted on the account.
Depending on what the "Proof of Service" shows you may actually have a good case to turn around and sue them, or at least get them in some serious trouble with the courts. Because the Proof of Service is a court document where if they intentionally lie on the form they could be held to civil and/or criminal action. This would be something like they had your correct address but the description of the person, or the time of day that they said you were served was impossible. I.E. You live alone, work 8-5 and they say that they delivered it to you at your house at 10:30. Again that varies by state and the exact situation, but may be something you want to look at.
One final thing is that since you had payment arrangements, and apparently were paying them. There is a good chance that if they re-file you would still end up with a judgment against you. But this time you would get your day in court. In court if you can show your lack of income and expenses the judge may force them to make other arrangements with you.
