I moved to Huntsville, AL in July, 2012.  The apartment complex offers free Gold Gym' memberships to their residents.  I went to check it out.  They set me up with a personal trainer meeting.  It sounded interesting, but I have severe problems with my back.  I am on disability due to the back.  I wasn't sure I could do the exercise. I explained all of the to the trainer who met with me.  As it turned out, I knew after one meeting with the trainer  I was not going to be able to continue with the exercise.  I returned to Gold's Gym and ask what i needed to do to cancel..  They gave me the instructions to email with my cancellations.  I emailed the address with the health reasons.  I thought after that it was cancelled.  The following month I received a debit to my checking for $90.00 (the cost of a trainer twice a month).  This was in August.  I called Gold's Gym several times and left messages for the manager of the gym.  He did NOT return my calls.  I went by the gym and spoke to him and told him I had left several messages for him and he did not return my calls.  He said that if it had to do with training that the messages were given to the head trainer, Nate. He was not at the gym that day or out  or something.  The trainer I had signed up with is no longer there.  He did not return my calls.  I finally got in touch with Nate and told him the situation, by then I had been charged for 2 months.  He told me that the only way to cancell was to send another cancellation notice to the email (which is a third party billing company) and  get a note from the doctor explaining why I could not have the training.  I did so immediately and took copies of each back to him.  Now it is November and I received another debit to my checking account in October.  I forgot to tell you that the September charge caused me to have nonsufficient funds for 3 items.  Each one cost me $35.00 on top of the training charges.  I have not received any services from this gym since July.   I have not gone back to the gym even to use the tread mill or anything else.  I have not been taken for $375.00 from Gold's Gym.  I talked to the head trainer, Nate, again and he said that they did not accept the note from the doctor and the cancellation done in September.  He said the only way to get out of this is to pay the $250.00 cancellation fee.   I made a terrible mistake getting involved with Gold's Gym.  I will never put my foot in the door again.
