Walk in on 5/2/11 and talk with the owner about filing my taxes for the last four years. I was quoted the price of $99 with the understanding that if she had to do more the price would increase. Returned on 5/9/11 and only filed three years....TOTAL $328.00 for 75 minutes of her punching numbers into a computer, using 6 staples, 4 envelopes and 37 pieces of paper. HUH!!!??? REALLY!!!??? I walked out only paying $99 but it wasn't pleasant as she walked away and let me deal with her husband after he was already yelling at her for not turning on a computer so he could print something. Yikes!

I do not know why they would have quoted you a price of $99 to do four years worth of returns, but that would be amazingly inexpensive. I do not know how much documentation you had or what type of return was prepared (1040, 1040A or 1040-EZ), but $328 seems more reasonable.
Block is able to prepare returns beyond three years, assuming that particular office had the appropriate software available, so I do not know why they did not prepare the fourth return.
In any event, the time it took to prepare your return, and the amount of paperwork provided is NOT what you paid for your return. You paid for the knowledge of the tax professional, overhead, training and software development. There are many factors that goes into determining how Block charges for their services, but based on what you paid, I believe your price was quite reasonable.
