We sent in payment in full by the deadline. We sent it out on Nov 22, 2006 and the payment needed to be received by Dec 2, 2006 to avoid finance charges. We refinanced our home and a check in the amount of $4,308.01 was sent to avoid paying $1100 in deferred finance charges.
They claim that they did not receive the payment still to this day, and payment has not been returned to us. Out of all of the bills I have paid in my life this has never happened. I just find it hard to believe that it has been lost in the mail. I feel as though they are just trying to make a huge profit from the little guy.

Identical to my expirience with HSBC

I had the same exact thing happen with HSBC. I refinanced my home and sent $9300 to HSBC to pay off my account. They claimed they never recieved the pay-off. It turns out they had sent the check back to my mortgage company. Next, I sent them a check from my own checking account to pay off my HSBC account. They cashed that check, applied the payment to a previously closed account I had with them and sent me a refund check in the same amount.
This issue took many phone calls and a massive amount of time to resolve. To get this account paid in full, it took four attempts and I constantly had to babysit thier people to get it accomplished. GOOD LUCK!
