Hy-vee would not let me purchase beer without scanning the magnetic strip on the back of my licence. I have a valid drivers licence clearly stating dob (I'm 55). I do not know what info the state puts on there but I feel Hy-Vee has no right to it. they offered no privacy policy...

The strip has the same information that is on the ID.

Many states are doing it this way now as an added to step to verify if an ID is fake or not.

If it concerned you, why did you finish the purchase? You could have just left the beer and went elsewhere.

Before long every state will adopt the magnetic strips and we will all be swiping them to prove our identity. This is not a rip-off, its progress.
