JP Photography and Events JJ JohnsonJP Photography and Events I hired this photographer to photograph a wedding, but the she failed to disclose that she has a fluctuating travel fee that wasn't agreed upon prior to signing the contract. When I refused the pay the $180 travel fee, she didn't want to return my deposit or honor the contract without charging an additional amount. I'm reasonable, I understand the cost associated with travel, but this photographer just doesn't have it together with her business ethics or scope of what is legitimate in terms operation. There's no business address for the company or individual, be very weary of hiring them. Poor business practices and produces very sloppy work, commits to services that she cannot perform. Hired photographer for a wedding, paid a deposit only to find out a few weeks prior to that the price of her travel fee fluctuates. I refused to pay the travel fee and she refused to return my deposit. Doesn't provide you with any contact information besides a bogus city, phone number and initials. I'd take her to small claims court otherwise, it's the principal of the matter!

RE: Complaint

AUTHOR: JP Photography and Events - (Atlanta)

POSTED: Tuesday, March 29, 2016

Mrs. Folds booked us for her vow renewal on June 14, 2014 in Warner Robins, GA. Our initial phone and email conversation took place on January 10, 2014, where Mrs. Folds was informed of our $125.00 non-refundable deposit/booking fee verbally, in writing via the email, and in writing via the contract (the first line says that the $125 is non-refundable, also again throughout). She was advised that there would be a $60 total travel fee in the email based on round-trip travel and the location that she provided. Mrs. Folds subsequently signed the contract agreeing to the terms.

On January 29th, the bride requested that we visit the venue on her behalf and do a walk-through (bringing her travel fee to $120). After that point the bride changed her venue location twice, which included different cities. This in turn affected the total travel fees, as the new locations were twice as far as the original location, which susequently doubled the original travel fee quoted (bringing her travel fee to $180). The changes in location are what caused the travel fees to "fluctuate" as she described. Two weeks prior to the event date the bride cancelled her Day of Coordinator package and requested a revised contract. Once the revised contract (which included the updated travel fee) was received, she advised that she was not financially prepared to pay the updated travel fee.

Since we did not want to lose her business and knew that it would be a inconvenience to all parties we offered to decrease the travel fee to the original amount agreed upon $120, regardless of the additional travel now required. At that point (10 days prior to the event), the bride refused to pay the travel fee of $120 or any travel fee at all, cancelled our services and demanded her deposit back. Since the deposit is a non-refundable fee we advised that we would not refund the $125.00, upsetting the bride.

The comments made in her complaint are false. We have attached the original email and contract that she signed as supporting documents. The bride never received our services, but booked us based on our website and online samples, so she cannot state that our work is sloppy. We started this business after a bad experience with our own wedding photography, so our ethics reflect that. We would never "rip any of our clients off". Mrs. Folds we wish you the best in your marriage and hope that your event turned out well. To those reading this please do not let this hinder you from booking our services. We produce quality work and practice ethical business habits. Feel free to look at other honest reviews from our past clients on the web or contact us for references.
