I ordered a custom lace wig unit online in May 2007, paid for it in full which amounted to about $600, was accepted and confirmed, and work began on the order.
I emailed the company to ask whether 'rush' orders were accepted, as I worried that the specified 6-8 week time frame would not be enough time for me to wear it on holiday as indended. The proprietor agreed and informed of a $100 additional fee for this service, which I paid. Once received she emailed a confirmation that the time frame for completion would now be 4 weeks instead, and that I "would receive a refund of this rush fee if not completed in this time". Her exact words, not mine.
The 4 week time frame came and went with no contact from the company as to its progress. 5 weeks into a supposed 4 week time-frame I then emailed them asking what the situation was. Their response was rude and abrupt. I was told the order was actually finished and was in the process of finalising quality checks after which it would be shipped.

I asked for the refund of the rush fee as they had clearly not kept to their agreement, which then began a series of very rude and hostile email responses, during which I was personally insulted and abused via her business email - very professional.

After having waited 5 weeks, the order was just cancelled with no further explanantion and a partial refund issued back to my credit card.

I was then informed that the wig would be resold and the funds from it would form the remainder of the refund outstanding. Also that further emails from me would be ignored.

I have waited the best part of a year for the remainder of the refund, and sent several emails notifying of my intention to take legal action for the conclusion of this matter.

True to her word she has ignored every email.

It truly baffles me how this company (which I believe is the proprietor opearating out of a salon) believe they can simply take their customers' money, cancel their orders at a whim yet still get to keep their money.
She clearly needs the money more than I do.

I need to BUMP my OP as ladylacewigsandhair.com has been mentioned in forums

AUTHOR: Denise - (United Kingdom)

POSTED: Tuesday, April 01, 2008

On a hair forum I use quite often it was questioned whether this company was worth a try.

Ladies, use this company at your peril.

This woman is unethical and dishonest to the extent she believes your money is her property.
If you don't mind taking the risk and handing it over to someone in exchange for a service they suddenly decide to withdraw with little or no compensation; this may be the right choice for you.
Should you believe you have a right to receive the service you have specifically requested and paid for or be entitled to refund, look elsewhere.
A custom order takes weeks to produce and may be subject to delays, which the buyer should be prepared for.
What you shouldn't have to deal with are broken agreements, no explanations or communication with regard to delays, and a stinking attitude to boot.
The icing on the cake is the 4,5,6,7,8+ weeks you may wait for the hair only to be told the order's been cancelled. All because she's so incensed you didn't let her off refunding you the money she herself SAID SHE WOULD REFUND IN THE EVENT OF DELAY!
Yes, she told me "in the event you do not receive your order within 4 weeks as per rush order fee, I will refund you this $100 fee". Pretty open and shut you'd think? No, as far as she'sconcerned I should have overlooked it given the "demands" I'd put on her to have the order completed in the 4 week turnarond SHE gave ME. Not only that, other customers had waited much longer than they'd expected to and hadn't said anything about it, so why should I? All I have to say to them is; more fool you.

It's quite simple; I asked for the order to be rushed for a reason; if I had unlimited time to wait for it I WOULDN'T HAVE ASKED AND PAID FOR IT TO BE RUSHED!!
Why that's hard for her to comprehend is beyond me.

The mistake she made here was that she guaranteed me this order within a specific time-frame, or my money back. What she should have said (and ensured I signed acceptance on) was that while every effort would be made to try and have it completed, payment of the rush fee did not guarantee it. But she didn't, and rather than admit it she cancelled my order out of spite, incensed at my cheek for challenging her. Then refused to give me back all my money.

Yes, there're ways to get it back, but why should a person have to go through all sorts of BS to reclaim their money from an arrogant, unprofessional rip-off merchant.
I don't have the time for it.
What I do have the time for is exposing this thief and her company to try and save at least one woman from wasting her time.

Luckily I found a reputable and exceptionally professional company, and there are many others out there.
Lady Lace Wigs and Hair just isn't one of them.

Finally! She rears her head - just couldn't ignore this could you ladylace wigs and hair? VIRGINIA BEACH, VA

In response to the rebuttal 'employee' 's comments to my original post:

I wondered how long it would take for you 'employee' of ladylace hair and wigs to rear your head - you obviously couldn't ignore this post, unlike my numerous emails you have ignored for months to try and get away from refunding. But then like I already said - you probably need the money more than I do if you insist on clinging onto other people's money.
For your information, I have better things to do than file bogus complaints about random companies, infact, I think it's safe to say I could come up with a more inventive 'story' if I was just doing it for the fun of it. Quite frankly, it's an insult to my imagination to suggest making up a story about an unheard-of hair salon/company is as far as I can stretch.
Any prospective customer who reads this and is hesitant about using your company is welcome to contact me for a copy of the emails (from your business email) I mentioned in my original post. It's there in black and white for anyone who wants to see what kind of unprofessional, ignorant and foul-mouthed person you really are. These are the people who can judge whether or not I'm making the whole thing up.
I would suggest for that 'customer' who contacted you outraged at the 'lies' she saw printed about your company to contact me for these emails, I then challenge her to post again insisting I'm still making the whole thing up. I doubt it because it's probably you yourself.
Your rebuttal is a good attempt at damage limitation, ladylace hair and wigs proprietor. Yes, I recognise your speech, and you are indeed the proprietor I dealt with, NOT the employee you claim to be. Didn't want the administrators to have your number incase they followed it up and exposed you as a liar and thief?

As for contradictions in my story;
4 weeks relates to the supposed rush time-frame. Don't split hairs because I left out the extra week I actually waited before I emailed you. Hardly an open and shut case for a bogus claim. Clutching at straws will do that I suppose.
Don't read too much into the name I've used here - you know exactly who I am, but nice try at the pretence.
Also, I never said anywhere about leaving it for a year before taking action - you did. You already know the opposite is true, but then you are trying to keep up a pretence, for the benefit of your 'loyal customer base' and any prospective customer.

I noticed you've changed your email address from the yahoo account you had when this whole thing started. This new one conveniently doesn't appear on your website. Now, I wonder why that is? Running away from something? You must have a lot of disgruntled customers if you have to change your address so frequently to try and evade the truth. And within 2 years already... either suggests poor business practice, or more likely a guilty conscience.
I don't suggest for a minute that everyone must have had a bad experience with this company, but I certainly did, and not from being a difficult hard-to-please customer. If I pay for a service, I quite simply expect to receive it with no feeble excuses and certainly no attitude as I do not conduct myself in this way. If you can't provide it be prepared to compensate for it, or don't take the money in the first place.
As I said, I have better things to do than file bogus complaints about random people, so either I'm a crazy person with time on my hands or I'm telling the truth.

Unlike you I'll leave people to come to their own conclusions. You've already displayed your nasty streak by denouncing anyone who doesn't believe you as an unwanted customer and the type of person to file bogus claims - and a truly bad heart is hard to disguise.

#1 UPDATE Employee

This is very untrue information and out of the character of this company, read below for the truth!

AUTHOR: Lady Lace Wigs & Hair - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, March 30, 2008

LadyLaceWigsAndHair.com has been around for over 2 years at this point and has never had any type of case of this nature. In any business dealing with customer service you are going to have your hard to please customers and in the case of the hair business, you may as well double that amount of hard to please customers. In this case, none of this comes into effect because Lady Lace Wigs & Hair has never serviced a lace wig client out of London by the name of Denise.

Furthermore, all payments to this site have always been made via Paypal. Paypals policy allows clients to file buyer disputes within 45 days of purchase and if the buyer actually had a dispute then he/she would have filed a complaint through Paypals channels within that timeframe. Now 4 weeks of wait time is stated in the title but then 5 weeks is stated in the actual complaint, so which to believe I don't know but the buyer has already contradicted his or hers statement in that already. Also, even if the buyer did not file a Paypal dispute, the buyer could have filed a dispute with her credit card company and received a refund, but none of that has been stated.

Not only that, but the so called buyer waits almost a year to take any type of action on the situation, now that says a lot about their claim as well. Now I don't know about you, but as for me, $600 is a lot of money to be waiting around for almost a year for. So this story just doesn't add up. If you are one to believe this bogus type of story and base your opinion of a company off of it, then Lady Lace Wigs does not need you as a customer anyways because you would probably be the next person to file a bogus complaint and that type of customer is not wanted by any company. Lady Lace Wigs & Hair has a loyal customer base, one of which saw this craziness and notified of this bogus complaint on this site. Don't believe the hype If you have questions about this situation or how to order a lace wig, please email ladylacewigsandhair@gmail.com

Thanks for reading. I guess you have had your lesson/internet entertainment for the day. Now time to get back to work and help some real women out there in need of these products and services. All of which may be found at www.ladylacewigsandhair.com
