Mountain-n-Plains stole my deposit. They returned to me only $500 of my $1200 deposit. They double charged me for carpet cleaning, fabricated a list of cleaning concerns after I left the property immaculate, and charged me for repair to screens that small holes and door stops that were missing from day one.

These people are utter crooks and thieves. They profit from stealing deposit money from renters to save the landlord owner money.

Do not rent from these thieves if you value your hard earned money. You will not get your deposit back in full at all, even if you leave the place spottless and immaculate as I did.

How to Deal with Management Companies

AUTHOR: Ex service tech. - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, August 19, 2009

This is for everyone that rents from any management company.

I work for several management companies over a 25 year period and I can tell you this, their all crooks.

They prey on the ones who do not complete a move in check list or the ones who are not there to do a walk through at the end of their lease. When someone moves out the first thing we do is to see how much of a deposit they have. Then to see if they returned their move in check list. If they didnt then they will be charged for anything that is damaged from the last two tenants before them and anything else so they keep the deposit.

I even worked for a company that kept a file of pictures from damaged apartments throughout the complex that they would use if the tenant tried to dispute the charges. All the apartments looked the same and had the same appliances.

So my advice for anyone who is going to rent is: 1.Completed your move in check list and return it to the leasing office shortly after you move in. 2. Take pictures of anything that is damaged and summit any copies along with your check list. 3. Be present during the move out walk and again take pictures. And 4. Keep a paper trail of all work orders and repairs this will also help with any disputes.  GOOD LUCK...
