I purchased a puppy from this "breeder". When I first inquired Catherine Farmer said they ship puppies all the time to California and that it was a 4 hour flight. In actuality there are no straight flights so I had to pick up the puppy and fly him home for his safety. Next I had paid for a faux French. A week before I picked up my puppy she emailed me that she thought there was a mix up in the breeding. That the mom was "probably" not a frenchton like she thought. To be fair she did offer me another puppy, my money back, or a discount on him. She said he was a French mixed with an English instead of a French mixed with a Boston terrier. I took the dog at a discount as I was attached. - When I got the puppy his abdomen was extremely swollen and his feces had a terrible odor. The daughter said the ran out of puppy food and he ate adult food that was the reason. When I brought him home and to the vet he was tested positive for giardia. I notice as I look on her website that she looses alot of puppies. Maybe thats a breeders thing or maybe thats from unsanitary conditions. As months passed he kept growing to the weight of 45lbs at 6 months. I had a DNA test on him which came back as English bulldog and boxer. Absolutely no french at all. When I emailed her to let her know she did her polite dance around the issue. So all in all I went all the way to Tenesse for a mutt. He's a sweet good boy and we do love him and will enjoy him. But next time we will just do a rescue.

She's worried for my puppy?

For starters I did not change my mind. I asked for a refund for several reasons. One, yes, she told me of the discrepancy about the mother and yes I agreed. But there is also a huge discrepancy about the father. If my puppies dad was a French he should at least be half French. he has absolutely NO French in him. As for the DNA test it is 90% accurate. I agree that I can't see any yorkie and that is probably a mistake. But he does look like a boxer. She did tell me he would be a bit bigger then an average French. Maybe 35 lbs she said. He is 45 lbs at age 6 months and still growing.. Two, as for the girardia he absolutely came with it. He was tested positive when he got his shots. I went thru great lengths to keep him separate from the other dogs to make sure they didn't get it. All 3 dogs were tested for 3 months until the puppy came up clean. This was very costly. Three, I am disappointed I went all the way to TN to no only NOT get what I originally wanted but also NOT get what I was told I was getting. I think all of this warrants a refund period.

If the breeder thinks this is her giving me a puppy for free, it's not. It has cost me travel, hotel and a lot of vet bills.

In conclusion I feel it is my respondsibility to tell my story. If you want one of her dogs and can go and see the facility yourself and it is how she says then maybe this was a one time discrepancy. As for my dog, I will continue to love and care for him regardless if his breed.

Response to your allegations

The owner of the puppy in question was told in advance to flying out to meet me the puppy had questionable heritage.   The
mother was purchased outside of my kennel and the puppies resembled English bulldogs and where larger than a faux frenchie..  At that point and time I offered a refund or a discount on another puppy or a half rate on this puppy and I had the mother spayed.  She was given time to think this over and decided to take the puppy saying if he had English bulldog blood she did not have a problem with it either (I do have email letters to back this up)   I meet her at the hotel near the airport and again I asked her if she was sure and she assured me she loved him and it was ok. I also pointed out that he would be larger than she wanted.

I have not heard anything from her till recently when she tells me she did a internet DNA test and it came back with 50% English blood  yorkie and boxer?  I also did research on the DNA test and those tests are not real accurate it is based on what is in the data base and what shows up the strongest.  All dogs are of mixed origins to make up certain gene pools sometimes it is difficult with a hybrid to pick them out let alone a dog that is a 3 way mix.. I know Ivy (The mother) must have had English blood for the puppies to come out the way. The test did  show English bulldog blood but yorkie and boxer no way. The sire was French bulldog and I witnessed the breeding the puppies arrived on the correct date.. I have pictures of her that I can show as well she has very large bat ears but is larger than most frenchtons she came from a kennel in KY with hybrid papers.

We ship puppies all the time but to California it has never been a four hour flight and I do not know where that came from there are layovers in GA. From the Tri Cities

When you are a breeder you do lose some puppies due to difficult birth or mom lays or steps on one but I do not feel we lose a lot of puppies.  Whelping areas are cleaned 3 times a day with puppies but again she did not visit us here and did not post
this to be nice.

Then she tells me he had Girradia for four months.  Why would you not let me knowing this upfront when it started? I would not wait 4 months to complain if my dog had it.  Girradia should not go untreated or uncorrected for a long period of time it puts the puppy at great risk and it is not that hard to correct.  This little guy had brothers and they did not have Girradia so did he get it here or at her home? Giarrdia is not selective and it spreads so if one has more than likely everyone has it.

She also signed a contract saying she would be responsible for all parasites.

We have 3 building that house the dogs with heat and air and they rotate inside and outside the home.

If you have never been here then I do not think you can comment on me as a breeder or my facilities. We have some of the best quality studs and bitches and I do not cut corners on my dogs all shots are up to date we have a worming schedule and if anyone needs to be vetted we go. We feed a good grade of food with meat substitutes.

Ok lets wrap this up Yes this puppy is of mixed heritage   yes I hate that it happened and I tried to correct it before she took him home in the only manor and way I knew how. By refund, another puppy discounted or let her have the puppy at a
half rate that she said she was attached to..

She has had the puppy now for 4 month and wants a refund without return of the puppy.  I do not know of any breeders or kennels that would do that with the knowledge that his heritage was in question to start with. She was told that the time for a refund was when I told her in the beginning by accepting the puppy and signing the contract she accepted the terms and conditions of the puppy.

I have hundreds of satisfied customers I worked hard to get this status. I was never untruthful with her either.  I do have a major concern for the puppy now that she has changed her mind.

Catherine Farmer
