Viking Moving and Storage driver fell asleep at the wheel; they said all my furniture was damaged and lost in a river. now they're trying to brush me off the progressive ins co. Oakland , California

I hired Viking Moving and Storage to move my house hold items from Vegas to TX. My initial pack out date was scheduled on a Monday. The Sunday before the company contacts me to postpone my appointment to Tuesday because they were over booked. I was given a window of 8-12 pm for the movers to show up. At around 8:30 am on Tue, the driver of the truck calls to say he had been driving all night, hr was checking into a room and it would be a couple of hours before he would be at my house. The driver stated he was alone and couldn't find any additional help. He was getting in contact with his boss to see if he could help him get helpers with the loading of my items. Finally around 11:15-11:35 the movers showed up after I called the dispatch office to complain. They finished loading up the truck around 7pm that night. A week goes by and I receive a voicemail from Dan in dispatch. He states he has important information to share with me regarding my items being moved. I called Dan back the following day. Dan told me that he had bad news to give me. Their driver had fallen a sleep at the wheel and had fallen into a river. He stated all my furniture was lost.and they were able to salvage the boxes that remained on the truck. To date we have not received a police report, pictures or anything proving that this incident occurred. I never even received the final.weight of the truck or a readable itemized list that I was told I would receive. Now they're trying to expedite the shipment of my items to me. We were told to get a hold of the insurance adjuster because we were only delaying the process. This company is awful, unprofessional and I would not recommend them to anyone! We are seeking legal help because it doesn't seem fair that because of their negligence and we had all our furniture and other belongings damaged.
