I also have had awful service. They talked me into the system with a nice guy who promised me the world. About 2 weeks after I got the system installed I got robbed. They kicked in my back door *had sensors* and robbed my house. The alarm never went off. So I called them and they told me to give the police report to the tech that would be coming to my
house to check my system so that they could reimburse me. It has been over a month since I gave the tech my report he never faxed it to them.
They haven't tried to fix anything. I have called at least 20 times and got the run around. They say they will call me back they have never called me back. I am on hold with them now yet again. They cant find the supposed tech that took the report. And now they are saying I didn't set my alarm that day. They just don't want to admit their folly. I
would not recommend them to anyone who has anything of value in their home or for those who want to feel safe because with them customers are not important. They are all about the all mighty buck. Save yourself the headache and go with someone who actually cares about the customer.
Vivant is not them.

We've had the (APX) Vivint service for over a year now with no problems. You can follow all the actions of the unit on their website. It shows any activity, including when it's armed or disarmed. You can even operate it on the internet from your computer or smart phone.
Log onto their site, follow the instructions to set up a count and check the activity on your equipment.
We used to have ADT, good service but nowhere near the easy to use alarm equipment. We're very happy with this service. Just be careful, if and when you want to cancel that there's a specific time window. It's in your contract in fairly large, bold type. I would suggest, that you call Vivint monthly and run tests with them monthly. It only takes a couple of minutes and confirms the system is working properly.
As one of my standart disclaimers, I do NOT have any business association with this company other than as a customer.
BTW, our "salesman" was also a great B.S.er, but we still liked the plan and signed up...no regrets.
They have been very responsive to any of our concerns, including sending out the solar powered lights for their yard signs. We have two, we've on a corner lot. The "salesman" said the signs were lighted and they were not. Looks good now, you can see them clearly at night.
Hope you can make things work like you would want, it would probably be expensive to terminate the contract early....mine's for 42 months.
