My dog was attacked, suffering ocular trauma & almost losing an eye at this "doggie" daycare. I called the owner the following day, who had no recollection of any dog fights (which is scary that you would miss one, unless you get many...), she refused to cover my expenses and implied this might have happened when I took her jogging that evening!!! I read the contract I signed and it says they are supposed to call you and then take any injured dog to a vet, so I don't have to drive to the emergency clinic at 9PM/ pay top dollar and otherwise deal with this after seeing patients all day. To top it off the emergency veterinarian told me that it looked like they used a clotting agent and dog hair to mask the puncture wound- FOR SHAME.

If your dog had "ocular trauma," why did you NOT notice this when you picked your dog up? If I picked my dog up from daycare, I would notice immediately if something wasn't right...especially if it involved the eye because the first thing we do is look at our dogs faces! If your dog truly got injured there, you should have noticed it when you picked your dog up and addressed it with them at that time.
It doesn't surprise me that the owner didn't want to cover your expenses...you called the NEXT day and you didn't report a problem with your dog's eye when you picked it up so your dog could've gotten injured another way even if YOU think it's not possible. You obviously weren't paying very close attention to your dog "if" it was injured when you picked it up because you didn't report anything wrong to them at that time.
I've had great experiences with Wags and they have such a great reputation that they actually have a waiting list for dogs to even get into their daycare. If your dog got injured there they would have taken your dog to the Vet, no question. There are numerous employees with ALL the dogs at ALL times in every area (I happen to know someone that works there) and there are VERY few if any dog fights according to this employee because the staff is constantly with the dogs and can read their body language for potential problems.

"had no recollection of any dog fights"
You were lied to or they were not watching the animals. Possibly both.
"the emergency veterinarian told me that it looked like they used a clotting agent and dog hair to mask the puncture wound"
Get that in writing from the vet. Then file a claim in small claims court to recover your expenses.
