Best Buy HSBC Retail Services Assess Late Fees After Payment Was Made On Time Baltimore Maryland

My Best Buy payment was due on the 12th. I paid it by electronic bill pay through my bank which indicates it was paid on the 12th. Best Buy HSBC Retail Services assessed a late fee because HSBC did not post it until the 13th. Can they do that? I pay all my bills this way and never ever did any of my other creditors post it a day later. I thought an electronic transfer was immediate, apparently not at HSBC.

try paying then on the 1st don't wait until the last day and try to get it in just in time. if you pay 7-10 days before it is due it will NOT be late.
just a good reason to never have a credit card if you don't have one this CAN'T happen..

Unfortunately all credit cards say in their disclosure that they have up to 2 days (by law) to post your payment. If your bank paid it on the due date that means it may not post on time to avoid a late fee. I would call and if you have not been late before they should wave the late fee, if not ask to talk to a supervisor and they should wave your late fee.
