Cashland has been very nasty to me. DO NOT USE THEM OR ANY OTHER SIMILAR SERVICE. I made a complaint to the BBB of Cincinnati and Cashland refuses to respond. They do not treat their customers with respect, are VERY nasty on the phone and REFUSE to work with customers. The BBB says they have an unsatisfactory record with them, because they do not answer consumer complaints.

Cashland IS Debtor Friendly, just not Debtor Stupid

AUTHOR: kwhitehek73 - ()

POSTED: Tuesday, September 16, 2014

I worked for Cashland Collections for 6.5 years and I was friendly AND good at my job.  Consumers might want to take a look in the mirror and accept financial responsibility for their lives.  This is a voluntary service that the consumer signs up for and knew the terms of the agreement.  When a consumer's check comes to collections and the account is closed, NSF(non-sufficient funds), DNA(do not ACH), or ACH REVOKED in which a consumer will walk into a financial institution and KNOWINGLY SIGN a legal document that states they have no idea why Cashland is ACHing their account(which is perjury under the law).  Consumers will call be upset because a collector will ask for the balance in full.  Why not?  Didn't the consumer promise per their signature that they would pay it back in 2 weeks?  If you are upfront with the collector, you could get a payment arrangement, but you can't talk to the collector like dirt because you as the consumer made a poor, voluntary financial choices.  Consumers come in with falsified check stubs and bank statements.  Friends who pretend to be employers and references who never answer or consumers come in (and are told by attorneys to do so) and take out multiple payday loans in order to file for bankruptcy, so who is nasty to who?  Remember, WE ARE DEBTORS too!  The same tricks consumers try to use on us, we use on creditors, so game recognizes game.

Cash Advance Companies are geared to "rip you off" they prey on  low income, volnerable people who have run into a hard time. These places are clearly practicing "usury" loan tactics and should all be put out of business.

They say if you can't pay the money back, don't borrow it, but most people who use these companies plan to pay the money back but may run into another "sticky situation" and need more time. In that case they are charged additional rates and fees and they become stuck in a bad financial situatin where they are borrowing from Peter to pay Paul and the cycle will never end.

My suggestion is to rough it out, borrow from a family memeber, anything to avoid taking out a pay day loan. It is not worth it!

Look at it from our angle

Dont you all understand!?!?!
You have to pay money back, when you borrow it!!

We were there for you, when you needed an extra $500, and we let you use it, for 2 weeks, a month at most! And after that, you HAVE to pay it back!!

I am a collector for this company.
Dont expect everyone who calls you to be a sweet, understanding, forgiving person.
My job is to get the money, that you rightfully owe us, back. So someone else can come in and use that money, when they need it!
I deal with people giving bad numbers, not answering the phone, not returning messages, making no effort whatsoever, to help themselves get out of debt with us.
So of course we are very stern, and blunt with people, when we actually DO get a hold of them.
The main point is pay your money back and if you dont think you will be able to pay it back, dont borrow it!
And you wont have to deal with us.

On the Contrary

AUTHOR: John - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, July 13, 2006

1. If Cashland did not except social security as an income, then they would be discriminating. And how this is bad for the "customer" is beyond me.

2. Ever get any mail from credit card companies with outrageous interest rates? There are a lot more companies with more "screwy" processes than the one we speak of.

3. The fact that you had 3 loans out is entirely in your control. Noone forced you to use the services of a loan company. The cash is made available to you with an understanding. You shouldn't be suprised if you actually have to pay it back. (As the loan agreement states.)

4. Things happen to everyone, but with common sense, you know and I know that this is a bit of a "loan shark" company. Understand that and you won't have a problem.

5. If they were outlawed in all states there would be more crime.

6. If Cashland prays on "people in need", then why do the commercials show upstanding citizens getting a loan for a legitimate reason?

7. If your drowning, don't reach for a loan company "rope" Most people who feel this way, will be standing in line on Friday to pay their bad checks off, and return on Saturday to re-loan, and be back in the same boat again. Don't continue to grab the same slippery rope.

death to all cash loan places

AUTHOR: Sonya - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, July 12, 2006

These places are bad. Now they take social security checks as income. This type of company cannot be found in all states due to laws against lump sum payments and higher than normal intrest rates. We got traped by them and had up to three loans out. It took two years to get out from under them. They all should be outlawed in all states. They pray on people in need. I know one should take responsiblity for one self but when you are drowning you will reach for any rope to save your self.

Correction: Cashland (A Payday Loan Company) IS customer friendly...Cashland is NOT debtor friendly.

AUTHOR: John - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, July 11, 2006

You must understand, the stores, the actual location where the cash is borrowed, is a completely seperate function from collections.

The stores are helpful, kind and understanding. Were they not welcoming when you needed financial aid?

When a check bounces for whatever reason, Cashland isn't concerned with what happened to who, or on what date. The company needs that money back! So their services can be there for you in the future. The collectors are hired to collect, and after contacting someone day after day "wrong number" "they're not in" evening after evening, being lied to, being called things you couldn't possibly imagine, I'm sure, would you be "respectful?" Would you want to "work with" someone?

You have bounced a check, you are in breach of contract and you have broken the law in the state in which you reside. This is not similar to an electric bill, or a car note. Cashland holds a loan agreement or contract stating that this will be paid in full by deposit to your checking account in two weeks, not six months or even one month, the collectors WILL work with you (you stated in your complaint "they won't work with you.", be honest, they've heard it all!

-This is current information I found as of 7/11/06 from BBB
Cashland is NOT a current member or the BBB, and managed to resolve 7 out of 8 "complaints." (Which most likely came from the collections part of Cashland, not the actual store where the loan was taken out.)
