In March 2012 I initiated a transaction for what I thought was to be a one time fee to research the D&B credit report for a company that owed me a lot of money. Since then, my bank account has had a monthly debit of $39. There are no instructions anywhere on www.dandb.com on how to cancel a subscription.

I wanted to add to my original report. This morning an incredibly rude rep from D&B Cred called me. He said it was my fault that I ordered the wrong report, and that I should have known it was a monthly report. I informed him that their web site is very confusing, and since I'm a Web site developer I consider my assessment to be valid.

I told him I thought I was purchasing a one-time report view, which turned out to be a monthly recurring charge and that I want my subscription cancelled and the monthly charges reversed. His reply? "When you buy a car, you can't return it after discovering you bought the wrong car." OK, whatever. I didn't buy a car. I bought a service that was ineptly described. When I asked to be transferred to his manager, he informed me that he is unable to do that and that I would have to call the switchboard back and ask for his manager. OK. Again, whatever.

Just now, I was pleasantly surprised when Joy from D&B Cred called me to very politely tell me that she has cancelled my subscription and is reversing all of my monthly charges. Customer service does exist...however, apparently not at the front line level. Thank you Joy.
