I took my cat in to be spayed; this they did just fine, but for no Earthly reason, they also cut a piece of her ear off. I'm furious. Those in or near Statesboro, Georgia, don't touch these guys with a ten-foot pole.

It is standard for FERAL cats

This is done 100% of the time for FERAL cats. Because otherwise it is impossible to tell that they've already been sterilized unless you catch them, bring them to a clinic, and put them under.
And you never answered my question: did you tell them it was a feral cat to save $55 on the surgery fee?

Yo d********, I told you I'd found her outside, but she now lived mostly inside with me. Take the s*** outta your ears and LISTEN. Even if this was not the case there's no reason to do such mutiliation. Who the heck brings in random feral cats for fixing, anyway? And how would this "track" a cat living in the wild? Simple and obvious answer: it wouldn't. This was nonsense, and if at all possible, I'll be seeing you in small claims court.

I've had several cats, and knew many others who owned cats. I've NEVER seen or heard of this mutilation being "standard." I stand by my comment.

Thats pretty much the standard when a kitty gets spayed or neutured, female right ear, male left.

They cut the tip off one ear of feral cats to indicate that they have been sterilized. Perhaps someone made a mistake, or perhaps you told them it was a feral cat?
