Geek Squad said my hard drive was bad and cheaper to buy a new one from them than fix it.  Kept it 5 days and charged $169.98.

I took the hard drive to another repair location who correctly diagnosed the problem as a bad power supply and repaired it on the spot.  No problems with hard drive.  Charged $60.

I see a problem with your report.

Bad Hard drive and bad power supply cause two completely different problems for the user. If Geek Squad ran a diagnostic (which the price you quoted would be correct for the work they did) it runs a test not only on computer hardware but software informing them of exactly what was wrong. The power supply most likely went out AFTER the hard drive replacement occurred.

Without a time frame this is not very informative, because even if an hour passed between the two services it is probably unrelated.
