Golds Gym, Utah Golds Gym, When I signed up, I specifically told manager that I wanted to be sure I could cancel at any time. He repeatedly assured me I would be able to stop my membership at anytime without a cancellation fee. Orem, Utah

When I went into Golds Gym at 9272 S. 700 E. Sandy, Ut 84070 in 2009 and I sat with the manager to talk about a membership to the Gym.
I specifically told him that I wanted a membership that I could stop at anytime if needed and not have to pay a cancelation fee.
He assured me I would be able to stop my membership at anytime without a cancellation fee.
I repeated, Are you sure? He repeated and assured me that I could cancel at any time and I would not be charged a cancelation fee, then he had me sign the contract.
I was decieved. He flat out lied to me.

I never mentioned this fact in my report, but it's my fault for not reading and believing what the salesman said.
This guy claimed there was no early cancellation fee.
Within two months, he wasn't employed there anymore.
This didn't stop Gold's from holding me to my "contract".
I wonder if Golds trains their staff to lie?
I'd bet they do just by looking at this forum.
Ya think?

"I repeated, Are you sure? He repeated and assured me that I could cancel at any time and I would not be charged a cancelation fee, then he had me sign the contract."
And then you proceeded to sign a contract that said exactly the opposite. When dealing with contracts, there is no substitute for reading the contract yourself. When disputes arise, what is written on the contract always trumps what you claim you were told the contract said.
Most of the complaints on this board dealing with gym contracts and car dealer contracts are due to someone not reading what they signed.
