Even if the DVDs weren't blank, they wouldn't have contained anything worth paying for.  It doesn't make any sense to make your own solar panels.  Solar panels are just about the cheapest part of a solar system these days -- installation costs about twice as much as all the equipment.  Besides, such a system would be completely illegal and against every kind of building code.
