Last September, my sister purchased a vehicle for me on E-Bay. The add stated the vehicle was already smogged, and was registered. It also stated that the vehicle had recently been over-hauled and was in excellent condition.
My sister paid the price of the vehicle, which was agreed to as $500. She also paid $90 to have the person selling the car, "Abe" deliver it to my home in northern California. She also paid $80 to have the vehicle smogged again. Monies were wire transfered from her account to "Abe"s account.

My complaint is:

1. In this state, it is the sellers responsibility to have a valid smog certificate at time of sale.

2. The entire ad was a lie. The vehicle was not in good condition and had not been registered since 2002.

3. Upon delivery, we noted an oil leak. Also, Abe provided a temporary sticker for 1 month, a receipt for a rebuilt motor that didn't belong to this car, and 2 receipts for smog work done within the prior 2 weeks along with 2 smog fail reports. The car was a gross polluter.

4. He did not give a purchase receipt or anything with his name on it. The car was still listed in the previous owners name. He stated the car was donated to his non-profit organization and the monies were paid to that company, not him.

I took the car to a mechanic after delivery. His findings were, the motor was all but gone, there were no smog repairs done as shown on the receipts, in fact it was missing smog components. The computer that controls emmissions was disconnected. He suggested I return the car for a refund.

I told my sister all that I had discovered, and she contacted the sites buyers insurance rep. It took him 3 months to even find this guy and still could not get him to make any amends. Abe suggested I register the car in Oregon and he would send me stickers every 2 months until I was able to get it to pass smog. This is totally illegal. Anyone who has ever gotten a ticket for their car being registered out of state and they've been here more than 30 days knows this.

Please tell me where I can file a complaint about this guy using his non-profit to scam people. My sister was given a partial refund of $400 - she had initially paid $670. And to end it all, the car was towed for non-registration and sent to the junk yard!

E-Bay provides an area where purchasers and sellers can comment on their experience with the deal they made. We made a negative comment to Abe and also noted there were quite a few negative comments from others he had scammed. Doesn't E-Bay monitor their sellers actions? Don't they verify any info given when the person signs up?

I did a review of this Abe regarding his info given to E-Bay. It came back as not verified - address, phone, etc. not verified. The only thing they did verify was his accounts. And they're under his non-profits name!

Consumer who bought several cars

AUTHOR: Emmitt - (USA)

POSTED: Sunday, June 12, 2016

I purchased vehicles from this company over a three year period and was totally satisfied with all.

I recently was on the Internet doing some searching and found this so-called Rip Off Report on this company. I had done business with them in the past and I don't know what happened on this one vehicle but below I will relate what my experience with the Lori Jane Foundation and Gerry Beagles has been.

I own a ranch in Northern California and have several Mexican employees who work for me and over the period from 2004 to 2007 I either purchased or helped my employees purchase 7 cars from this organization and I personally knew Gerry Beagles the administrator of the Foundation and in those years they were a small organization that was doing all they could to raise money for a new home they were acquiring in the Northern California and they had two mechanics that were local guys that helped out the foundation by working on their cars and making sure that they ran as best as they could.  I knew Dave the head mechanic and in my opinion there wasn't a more knowledgable man on old cars in the area.

All of the cars they received were donated from residents of the surrounding area and sometimes they really got a lemon of a car but they would scrap it out and not sell it.  The cars I bought from them were not perfect in any way but they ran good and all of the paper work was in order even the ones that had missing titles and I bought three of that kind.  They always had tuned the cars up with new plugs and wires and any other apparent problem was addressed so that the vehicle could be smogged and tagged.  However, they have moved from their Rio Linda Address and no longer take in cars as a donation so I lost a good source of old used cars.  Personally I  would buy from them again if they were still doing that kind of a business.
