Doreen has sold 3 mastiff and puppies that have died under the age of 3 due to osteosarcoma. My last male from her has epilepsy at 7 months of age. I am devastated and so is my veterinarian and specialist who diagnosed my babies. She would compensate me for my loss. What a horrible breeder! Do yourselves a favor and find a reputable breeder!

#1 REBUTTAL Owner of company

Responding to a false and malicious review of Marcy Mtn Mastiffs

AUTHOR: Doreen - (United States)

POSTED: Wednesday, November 08, 2017

Let me first start off by saying shame on the individual that would go to such lengths to create a fake report for the purpose of disparaging the health of my dogs or the reputation of my kennel, Marcy Mountain Mastiffs.    I have no record of ever selling a puppy to anyone by the name of Lorraine Web. Nor any experience fitting this story or description. My only conclusion, is that someone posted this, seeking to smear my name. At the very least, they could have spelled my name correctly.    As a breeder, I take matters of health very seriously. Much of my life has been dedicated to the betterment of the breed. I have been breeding for over 20 years. All my dogs are fully tested, with several achieving the MCOA Golden Health Award.    I was the MCOA Seizure/Epilepsy disorder chair for 10 years. Although I have never had a puppy suffer from seizures, as the Epilepsy disorder chair, part of my work was dedicated to helping owners of Mastiffs with seizures and to encouraging participation in available Epilepsy Research Projects. In addition to studying DNA and gene mapping, we the researchers, were also studying pedigrees. With the cooperation and help of the Mastiff Community, we believe we are getting closer to finding the gene(s) that cause epilepsy in Mastiffs, and we believe this research will lead to a potential DNA test that can be used to identify and help dogs with this devastating disease.    I can only assume that the person who wrote this fake review, was unaware of my background, and really does not know me at all.    I would never, and I say NEVER sell a dog with a known health issue. Every puppy owner is provided with a five-generation pedigree, and a contract spelling out exactly what would happen should a genetic disorder such as dysplasia, or hereditary eye or heart defects be found. I keep record of all my puppy buyers, and have an open-door policy should they ever need to reach out for advice or assistance.    I would encourage anyone reading this to do their due diligence in selecting a breeder. There are some who breed without good intentions. I, most certainly, am not one of them.   Here is a great link to some considerations (published by the AKC) as you consider your next pet or show dog: http://www.akc.org/press-center/facts-stats/responsible-breeders/
