I answered  a  housing rental ad on craigslist for a 2br 2 hth house for $1000 a month. The next day a man calling himself

Mr. Thomas texted me back and said his house was still available for rent and asked me if I would like to come take a look and I said yes, and I asked if my wife and I could look at it on sunday afternoon and he said that was fine, but he also said that he would not be there to show us how house because he was in Houston with his son who was battling cancer.

I said that was ok and so on sunday afternoon around 5pm my wife and  i arrived at the house and  I saw there was a lockbox on the door handle so I texted Mr Thomas and to let him know that my wife and I were at his house.

He texted me a few minutes later and said that his wife had just informed him that the house was just rented out to someone else, but that he had another property just a few miles away that we could look at and asked if we were still interested.

I said that we still were so Mr Thomas texted us the address and my wife and I drove to this other house and when we got there, we could not believe what we saw, this house was a mansion! This home was 5br 5 bth, a large kitchen, an enormous basement area, several walk-in closets, and a large Jacuzzi in one of the bathrooms!

My wife and I could not believe our eyes! Both my wife and I were in love with this home! We we're able to get access to this house by a code that Mr Thomas had texted to open the lockbox and get the key. After we were finished looking at this house Mr Thomas texted me and told me to call him.

I called him and he asked me if I liked his house, I told him that my wife and I loved it. Mr Thomas said out of all the properties he owned in the Atlanta area, this one was his favorite, and that he was renting it for only $1000 a month because he was just looking for good and trustworthy people to take care of his home.

He then asked me if we were intresred and I said yes. Mr Thomas then asked me for my email so he could send me a rental applicaion, so I gave him my email, and about 30 min later I checked my email and there it was.

I called and told him that I received the rental application and told me to fill it out asap and it would take a day or two to get my application approved. So the next morning, I woke youup and got to thinking about how it just seemed to good to be true. That is when I became suspicious, so I googled the address of the house.

We saw the previous day and it came up on several websites; (not craigslist) as renting for $3200 a month. That is when I came to the realization that Mr Thomas was a fake, and this was just an elaborate scam that my wife and I almost fell for, but thank God I found out before it was too late!
