I am a former employee off NHCD I worked for them as a SENIOR Manager for two years and was terminated along with 4 other Sr managers when we turned them, into the IRS. I loved my job there it was great until you decided to question the mortality or anything questioning the company they made it so you could NOT make any money or advance any further. I can give plenty of details but since I am in an ongoing civil lawsuit against the company I can not state much more at this time.

#31 UPDATE Employee

And the phone plot thickens!!

AUTHOR: C - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, March 19, 2005

To anyone who's stated that NHCD doesn't require you to change your long distance, you must read this!!!!

The company's new "contract" is with PNG. Now, new recruits will pay 3.9cents a minute + monthly charges for the first 2 months of employment. Then, supposedly, nhcd will provide a 1010 code and pick up all phone charges. I'm sure they will change this before this 2 month period is over!! Anyway do the math. They are stating that the average lead generator spends 2 hours on the phone per day, five days a week. I went through my past qwest bills from when I first started, added up the minutes for a two-hour time frame at different times of the day and came up with anywhere from $11.50-15.5- per week, or up to $61 a month for long distance!!! And if you'd like to make any money, you'd better work more than 2 hours a day....for my hours worked for an entire month, just in leads and recruiting, my long distance bill would be over $100 a month!!!! This place really bites!! So now they expect people to only work a couple of hours a day? I'd think the managers would want the folks that would work longer than that.

They will allow a business long distance plan, but won't accept unlimited plans from many companies including vonage, att, and others. So new recruits are basically being forced to switch to this lousy long distance service for 2 months!! What's next? Time can only tell!!

Dean,

I have to agree with R - Warwick about all that she has said. She is so right on about everything she has said with NHCD. My First Paycheck from them was awesome. Then it starting falling every so slightly. I called my manager and asked her why and she said cause of returns. Which makes no sense to me. I mean why should we lose money for being lied to by the lead. I mean it isn't are fault that they say yea I am interested only to find out they don't want to be bothered.

I just think the company is nothing but a huge rip off to employees. I mean they will do anything and everything not to pay you.

They pay you to lie to people. I mean I don't even know why I got termainted they don't tell you anything just do it.

I just think it is to much work for little pay. It is just said the way they do things with NHCD!

Thank You Dean

AUTHOR: R - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, February 09, 2005

Thank you Dean for finally understanding, even if you do not agree with some of the things I have said.

Yes, management was an option and the reason I went into management is because it's made to sound so good and you're told you will still have time with your family, but it took me getting into it to find out that it was basically all talk. They tell you that to get you there. They figure once you are a manager, you won't leave because you have a paycheck coming from your team and because they make you feel like they are the only successful and legit work from home company out there. I just don't want to see you wrapped up in that without knowing what to expect. I believe you have the requirements to get into management, and it may be your intention to go there.

It was very hard for me to leave because of the feeling they gave me of being the only company out there. But persistence paid off, and I have a really great job working at home now that I didn't have to pay a dime to get. I get to choose my own hours, whether it be dayshift, evening or even overnight hours and I am paid, not on commission, but by the actual time I spend on the phone, which is ver nice, because my salary is not up to any customer, it's up to me.

Dean, I hope things don't go bad for you, but I just wanted to let you know what to look out for because certain things NHCD does are not on the up and up. When things do start to go downhill for you, you will know what we are all talking about. Until then, I wish you much luck.

#27 UPDATE EX-employee responds

Are you telling me I didn't work?

AUTHOR: R - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, February 07, 2005

Dean - Are you accusing me of not working? That's sure what it sounds like to me, and I could offer you proof that my team was one of the top producing teams in the company and because of that I was working 80-90 hours a week. When you are a manager with the company, you are completely taken advantage of. I guarantee Leasa will back me up on that. Leasa and I used to work together, so she knows exactly what I am saying.

If leads are working for you now then by all means do it, but just as Leasa says, a few weeks down the road you will be feeling the returns on your paycheck and could run the risk of being deactivated when your return percentage is over 25%. They have six weeks to bring your return percentage down below 25%, and if it can't be done, you are out of a job for at least 6 months before you have the opportunity to return. The only way you would remain active is if Tonia is good at making up stories on your returns, because that's how most of the lead returns end up getting credited.

My advice to you Dean is that you keep working leads until you are deactivated and never EVER think of going into management unless you want to see your paycheck get cut and your hours double or triple.

I don't need to try and turn you against NHCD, you will end up doing that yourself in a few months when you see how things change, and if you keep your blinders on until 2006, you will truly feel it then. I also believe in the programs NHCD offers, however, I do not agree at all with the way they treat their "employees." I'm sure right now you are one of the favorite lead generators in the company because you are producing so much, but your value will go down as your returns start coming in, and they will, no matter how good and solid you say they are. It happens to everyone. And you saying I couldn't cut it? Oh, I could cut it Dean, right there with the rest of them as my time with the company will prove.

Before I was made a Senior Manager officially, I was lumped in with them and any emails sent to the Sr Mgrs were titled Sr Mgrs & Rhonda. They had said for a long time that they weren't promoting any more Sr Mgrs, but they did promote me because I was that good in getting my team motivated.

In October they instituted a change to give all Senior Managers a base pay of $455 plus the $100 bonus that some of the managers were already receiving (some were passed over for that as well). The only catch that they didn't tell you at the time was that your team's commission had better be close to that or over that in order to keep it. If your totals were low, it was taken away from you. You were not even told over the phone by administration that your base was being taken away, it was all handled by email, even though according to the department head it is against the rules to communicate by email (administration must have been exempt from this rule as they used emails to communicate all the time.) Something as important as payroll should have been handled with tact on the phone, not through an email. Some of the senior managers that had been with the company for years and had proved themselves as top producing teams had their base pay taken from them with no notice when it started to get slow. Is that any way to treat some of your best managers? To promise them something and then all of a sudden have it ripped away? You were still working the same number of hours, if not more, but all of a sudden it was gone again.

As for the $100 bonus pay, if this was actually given to you, they told you to keep quiet that you were getting it, because if you opened your mouth it would be taken away from you. Nice intimidation tactics, wouldn't you say? I personally felt quite guilty on this aspect because I was lucky enough to receive the $100 and I had to keep my mouth shut to my Senior Manager whom they had passed over and she never received it. She still doesn't to this day, even though her team has been the top team for a few weeks now.

What is even more, not all managers in the company were entitled to a base pay or a bonus. No set salary is ever offered to the recruiting managers, unless you try to quit and they feel you are worth saving so they offer you more money. Otherwise they will say goodbye as fast as they talked you into the job to begin with. When you do try to quit, you are harassed and badgered into the point of staying. I tried to quit once before I finally did, and they would not leave me alone and guilt tripped me into staying because my team was the top producing team in the company and the department totals would go down if I quit. They weren't concerned about what they could to help me fix the situation, they were too busy looking out for themselves and the bottom dollar they could earn in sales off of my team. Finally, enough was enough when my husband told me he wanted the woman back that he had married not the b***h he was living with because of this job and the fact I was not earning anything near what I should have been for the hours I was devoting to the job.

As a manager you are told that you need to make yourself seem available to your reps 24/7 yet they tell you to make sure you get away for a few hours. The moment that you walk away, one of your reps tries to reach you and when they can't, they fill out a customer service complaint on the website and all of a sudden you are inundated with 'Please Handle' emails from the Dept Head. Then you are questioned on why you aren't there for your reps. The reason we are all working from home is not because we are lazy, it is because it allows us to spend time with our families. However, that is not the case at all in a management position. There are not enough hours in the day for you to make time for your families when you have so many reps and you are working with your team to actually make an income. They tell you not to work weekends and only work 40 hours a week, but my 40 hours of work were up on Wednesday mornings. Does that mean I should have stopped working for the week then? Never would have happened. I needed the rest of the week and the weekend to try and catch up on the work they loaded you down with each and every single day.

My point Dean, is not to say you are not being successful right now with NHCD (which will change) -- my point is to say you are working for a company that has no morals and does not treat their employees the way they should be, which is the reason I am gone. If you choose to work for a company like that, that's up to you and on your conscience.

It was to time consuming, I got to many "well let me think about". I'm offering you a great position and a great phone plan...whats there to think about stupid?????? Anyway, in leads it's turn and burn! It's quick, no paper work and no call backs to make.
The phone plan, either matrix or qwest is the best out there. The objection to changing their phone plan is something that I'll never understand.
If my total has been posted this week it's pretty weak due to messing around with recruiting (which i did make pay there too) but only got 29 leads for the week. Keep an eye on the pay ending 2-6 if youre making as much or more than I am at that point let me know please and I'll do the work from home that you are.

AUTHOR: Leasa - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, February 05, 2005

Hi Dean

I understand your "loyalty" to the company right now as you are new, you havent had to take one for the company yet. I was just like you. If you search back through the 100's of posts about NHCD and go back to 2 years ago, you will find me, making the same comments you are making now. Its alright, you dont know any better, you havent seen the true side of the company yet. And hey, if you are making the money today, work it! Now you stated that you are no longer in recruiting because you made more money in leads. Would that be because you couldnt get anyone to switch their long distance service to Qwest or Matrix? Or was is the frustration of doing the whole interview to find out they had a ligit business plan and you had to hire them with that and only got paid a $1 for the same amount of work? And dont forget that those business hires dont count for bonus money!

I applaude your efforts Dean, your ability to do the great number of leads that you are doing. The reality will hit you over the next few paychecks when the returns start rolling in or your return rate goes over 25% and they lock your butt right out of the server. Right now you cant help but think this company is your gift from god. I give you 4 more months of defending the company before reality hits you and you are here doing what we are doing, telling the truth.

NHCD does a good thing, I will continue to stand by their RX program. But by walking away, as a lot of people have in the last few weeks, I chose to not be party to ripping new employees off. I refused to lie to them about the Matrix fee, I refused to beg people for money to work from home again. I did that for 2 years with a $79 deposit. Wish I had interviewed you then Dean, you would have been a sure thing! And I am glad that you are willing to pay triple to be with this company, cause it will cost you at least that before you are done.

Leasa

AUTHOR: Dean - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, February 04, 2005

The pay was for recruiting and leads. I am not recruiting any longer becuase I make enough on leads. There is a good portion of that pay that's bonus, though i am able to make 350 to 400 per week in leads.

It should be noted that when I started I did not go with qwest because I had to switch my busn line to residential. So you have lied about it being required and should apologize!

The bottom line is, as my recruiting manager has on her signature...."don't wish for it, work for it"! As far as this being a real work from home job....I'll compare you money made by hours worked anyday. I'll scan and email check stubs for proof. All your bashing will never turn me against nhcd. Oh, as far as returns go.....my leads are plenty and solid! Just because you couldnt cut it is no reason to degrade an entire company.

And that fee thing again............what is your point???? Knowing what I know now I would have paid that fee faster than you could write down the credit card numbers! As matter of fact I would have paid double or tripple that!

A Response to Dean

AUTHOR: R - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, February 03, 2005

Dean you claim that you got your first paycheck for $400, and as a former Sr. Manager with the company, I can believe that you probably did. However, how much of that was contest money? They are paying $6/ld, so that would mean that for that week, you had at least 66 leads. Is this correct? In the paycheck after that, have you seen how many of those are return leads yet? Producing that many leads in your first week will net you an excellent first paycheck but in the following week's checks you will feel the impact of return leads. Returns will happen with your leads whether your leads are 'good' or not. On the NHCD WFHP's website it shows your paycheck as being $296, which in fact does indicate to me that you are in fact feeling the cut of returns.

Also, being on Tonia's gold team and making the amount of money you are making, you are undoubtedly making dental calls to small businesses which requires less information for you to get from the consumer as compared to the majority of the reps calling senior citizens.

As far as your lazy and stupid comment goes, I certainly hope you are not referring to the senior managers that have posted on here, such as myself. As managers we busted our butts at least 60-80 hours a week to make any sort of money, and it was all based on what our team did because having such large teams, we were not able to find the time to dial for our leads and generate our own leads income. We were not paid by hour, most were not on base pay (because when you were, they took it away anyway) so we were paid $1.50 for each lead our team produced and $1 when it was contacted. For every return that comes back, that money was taken away. If you did not have a top producing team but were still working with all your reps as they wanted you to, you would work 60 hrs a week and get a pay check less than your first check you received Dean.

You could go to the department head and ask for help in getting a problem solved which they would tell you was being worked on, when actually nothing was being done. They had a base pay of over $1000 a week and didn't care about anyone else. It's all about what goes in their pocket for the little work they do. Certain department heads don't even work 20 hours a week to get that kind of money.

As far as the phone company goes, I have no problem with using Qwest or Matrix because you are correct in saying that they are one of the best companies out there for the price. That is in fact true, however when recruiters are hiring they are telling the new recruits that it is a Matrix fee. It most certainly is not - it goes right into NHCD's pocket and has nothing to do with Matrix. Call Matrix yourself and ask them about their fee of 19.99 to sign up. They will have no idea what you are talking about.

As far as NBB goes it states on the NBB website the following:
The butterflies pictured on the outer wrapping of inkomfeTM are endangered. Until a few years ago they were threatened with total extinction. Due to a local campaign to save the Brenton Blue Butterfly shown here and throughout this website, this beautiful winged insect has a chance of survival..
What local campaign is benefitting from NHCD selling the NBB? NHCD has never come forward and said they are contributing to something like that, yet they want you to believe that by the statement they make.

This company is not a morally and ethically correct company. Besides the Matrix 'set-up' fee, you also have a choice of being an independent contractor or an employee. What they don't tell you is when you choose to be an employee, there are standards that you must meet. NHCD does not want employees on the payroll because it is costing them money.

Take this for what it's worth, but NHCD is not a true work at home company and I am glad I left when I did. In 2006, when the next round of benefits comes out for the seniors, there is no one that will want NHCD, because the seniors finally be receiving the help they should be receiving from the government. NHCD is going to watch it's business drop and if you are relying on this job to support you and your family, don't be surprised if you fall flat on your face because your paychecks go down to nothing.

I now have a legit work at home job that can not be found at all on the Rip Off Report website and they pay by the hour, so I am finally making what I deserve.

my experience

AUTHOR: Dean - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, February 02, 2005

I've worked with the company for a little over a month. Considering that my last pay check was over $400 for 25 hours telephone work, I don't really mind if they get referral money from a long distance company......which I might add is the best long distance plan bar none! Besides what's wrong with a company whom pays their employees a great commission seeking every source of funds availabe to them? It is not required that you have this long distance plan, though there is a higher rate for a recruiter if they hire with the plan. What's so bad about that?

It took me two weeks to get my first check.....but then I'm smart enough to pay attention to pay-roll policies,so I expected that. Every check has been on time and correct to the nickle.

Keep in mind that work from home still means "work"! If you are lazy and stupid then you're not going to find a work from home job.....you better go some place where you don't have to have the personal talent that it takes to be successful with the public. Way to go Aliscyn ..It was a no win situation. They give you 80 hours worth of a work a week, but not to work more than 40 hours with a sly little wink

AUTHOR: R - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, January 24, 2005

Way to go Aliscyn on stepping up and doing what a lot of others necessarily can't do. I was also a senior manager who has stepped down and the reason was that I was working 80-90 hours week, but only being told that I should be working 40 hours a week. Yet if you didn't finish all your work like they wanted, then you were in trouble for that. It was a no win situation. They give you 80 hours worth of a work a week, but not to work more than 40 hours with a sly little wink, wink in there. I just couldn't handle it anymore. If I divided the commission I was making on my team by the number of hours I was working I was making around $3/hr. Not cool, especially since I was one of the top producing managers.

Yes, the company has changed for the better regarding their lead reps/recruiters/sales reps, but there are also a lot of requirements those people have to follow. There is good and bad both to the situation.

Kudos Aliscyn, on knowing where to go to get the money you deserve. I am one of those that wouldn't know who to go to.

Aliscyn,

I am from Mckeesport too but movee to Georgia some years ago. You many know me girl! And I may know you! I work for this company! And I have been lied to too. They told me that I would get paid for every lead I generated and I still havent received a paycheck. Conveniently told me yesterday when I contacted them that their payroll is always two weeks behind. Some people I see have paid to work for them and havent received anything back but I am a lucky one I never had to pay I just had to switch my long distance to their company they used and I pay the bill.

I have only been working for them for 2 weeks and it seemed quite odd to me that they told me I would be paid for leads and that the only ones returned to me would be if i misplaced a word or left a phone number out of the online application. But, to my surprise I had one kick back saying that the lady told me not to call her back that she had insurance blah blah blah and I "lost money" which I havent seen any yet!

Called my Manager Pam Longworth and she is conveniently out and hasnot returned any of my calls. So I emailed the "recuiter" that got me involved and no answer either. I really would like for you to contact me and give me your phone number and I will call you!!!

Qwest being a requirement to work for NHCD is a fact, not gossip.

AUTHOR: Tracey - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, September 24, 2004

Signing up with Qwest is a requirement it's not just an "offer".I inquired about the position and stated that I did not need an unlimited LD, I have one that I have been using for years for personal and business use without a problem.I was told it was a requirement to work for the company because NHCD is under contract with Qwest. So sugar coat it all you want,I'm sure that's what you do to prospective recruits right?Act like NHCD is doing them a favor by having them sign up with Qwest and scare them into thinking they will be sued??Most phone companies will work with you to find an LD plan that works for your needs. It should be your choice.NHCD is still trying to make money off of their workers, just like they did with the 10-10 numbers. When I saw the new ads for employment for NHCD I thought maybe they were changing their ways but it doesn't seem so.

Qwest being a requirement to work for NHCD is a fact, not gossip. You will not hear from them again about a job unless you sign up with Qwest. But if thats the case consider yourself lucky, I know I do,lol. There are just too many negative things circulating, regarding horrible pay, ripping off seniors, lawsuits and real crappy management.Any company that lets you make a few hundred phone calls for a couple weeks and thinks that qualifies one to be a manager???Give me break.I have been a homebased manager for years and most of these managers that I have come in contact with from NHCD don't know their head from their rear end.

NEW LONG DISTANCE IS NOT A RIP OFF!!!

AUTHOR: A Manager - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, September 24, 2004

I am currently working with NHCD and know of the new changes with no security deposit and that you are offered to sign up with Qwest for your Long distance. You are NOT forced into this. It is a choice you make, not the company. Most residental long distance plans that are unlimited DO NOT allow you to make business calls on them. If they catch you doing so, you can be fined/penalized for being in violation of the terms and conditions of your current plan. NHCD is strictly offering you a flat rate business plan that allows you to make your long distance calls without being in violation of any terms or conditions. Therefore, NHCD is saving you a lawsuit. Maybe if everyone had the correct and truthful facts before posting on these sites, there wouldn't be outrage. But some people just like to gossip and that's all this site is... A bunch of gossip. When you work with NHCD you are a real w-2 employee there's no punches being pulled here.

NHCD's New Long distance Rip off Plan they now require you to switch your long distance to Qwest

AUTHOR: Tracey - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, September 19, 2004

Yes they have changed their policies, they are now classifying workers as employees giving them an hourly wage and no longer requiring the phone deposit.Sounds good right?? Think again, they now require you to switch your long distance to Qwest. They do not have access to your phone records to track your calls, so what is the purpose you ask??? NHCD is partnered with Qwest and earns commission for Qwest sign ups.So they are still ripping people off.If they wanted to better their reputation they would allow people to use their own LD plan. Most people that work from home have a plan they are happy with.

Thank You for the Info Homegirl!!!

AUTHOR: Andrea - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, August 08, 2004

i JUST WANTED TO STATE THAT i CONTACTED nhcd and spoke with, I believe, a manager and they gave me the sales pitch and asked me for $74. I was not aware that a fee was needed and then the manager said she thought she explained that but I said no, that was never mentioned. Well after the pitch, I asked if some info could be sent by email so I could check into the company and nothing was sent. I wanted to check the BBB.

When I stated that I guess the manager didn't want me to see any negative reviews about the company I was never contacted again. I just went online and pulled this site up and got to read some reviews and I'm very happy I seen this first because I was interested in the company.

I would like to thank you Aliscyn, from mckeesport, my home, we need more people like you to make more people be aware. My hats off to you!!!!
