It really is a scam. You don't have to do anything. Next time he calls you, hang up.

Go to the FTC(dot)gov website and look up the consumer scams section of the website. The name of this scam is the Payday Loan Collections scam. You will see that any name that these scammers use is fake. The numbers they use are temporary or spoofed and that's why they appear to be calling from different areas of the country.

You can file a report with the FTC with the information you have gathered about the specific caller.

Don't send them any money. Don't engage them in conversation. If they email you, don't respond to it.

The entire purpose of this scam is to intimidate you into sending money to the scammer; that's why they claim such outrageous things like sending the police over to arrest you. If you read the whole article the FTC has on their website it will at least reassure you that there is nothing that the scammer can do to hurt you.

 I have recieved many calls from a 707-388-0034 number and it is a man who can barely speak english saying that I got a loan online and that I owe them money that I never paid back and if I don't pay it then they will be pressing charges against me and I will be arresetted. I don't know how he found out where I work cause my job is through a temp agency but he has called me at my job twice now. I have called my lawyer and notified him about the mans phone calls. He says he is with Lawernce Law Firm but can not find this number to match any law firm with this number. Besides my lawyer what else can I do??

Who is Mike J Anderson? Each time I receive emails he is from someplace else (Bloomington, IL or Manhattan, NY). Of course when I question in the emails, there is no response.

 I got a call stating that I owed on a payday loan and that if I didn't pay I was going to be arrested. The only problem is not only did I not get a loan but they had called me before wth the same scam and I reported them to the Federal trade Commission! (what idiots!!!) Anyways, I called the real State Attorneys office in California where the phone number 760-651-2851 was traced back to. They have assured me that someone will be arrested and it won't be me. Hey Mike enjoy jail.
