World Financial Group is a joke for the week minded...
My story starts on a sad note. I am new to my job here in San Jose. My company moved me here from across the country and I am willing to hang out or be friends with anyone just to pass the time. Naturally, I was excited when a girl at work asked me "would you like to go with me tonight to meet some people and help families." Her english is a little shakey so I figured it was some sort of charitable event. Soup kitchen, I don't know.
She drove us to a building filled with people, a parking lot overflowing with cars. Much to my confusion though, almost every person was dressed nice, and 90% of the people in attendance were some sort of minority. I walked in with my co-worker, and at that time she placed her name badge on and I signed in as a guest.
I waited a few minutes until they gathered 9 other new people for a special tour of the facilities. We start off by looking at a huge ridiculous "trophy" in the appearance of knights armor standing about 6 feet tall. This of course is on a hall way named "achievement alley," which is a crossroad to "victory lane" or something silly, but true. Down these hallways were offices for their top employees. These rooms had similar minature trophies and dozens of plaques they called awards across every wall. The tour guide told stories of how each office belonged to a successful associate who came from nothing but is now make oogles of money. I also noticed a reacuring poster on the walls showing 5 jewel encrested ring with dollar amounts next to them ($250,000, $500,000, 1 million, 2 million, 3 million) indicating when you make those amounts you will earn the corresponding ring.

We then gathered in with everyone in attendance in room for a reason I'm not sure of. But I got to listen for a half hour about how amazing everyone who works theres life is, one guy even showed me a picture of some monkeys in a hot tub he plans to reviste on his next trip to japan. He goes twice a year to climb some mountain afterall.

Now we are hearded into a smaller room for the special guest speaker. He starts off his hour speech with informing us he makes 1.4 million dollars a year. He tells about how the company helps families. That's what they do is help families, all they care about is helping families. He does a great job connecting with his fellow latinos by telling his story about how he use to go to school on a burro and ten years ago he was destined for failure, until he joined WFG. During the meeting the people who leave are harrassed and taunted by him. "They obviously don't want to make money, let them go work their useless jobs."

Now the worst part, the part they get most people. I'm brought into a small room by my co-worker to meet with her trainer. He tells me how awesome the guy speaking is, an inspiration to us all. He tells me how I'm going to pay the small tuition fees, and how I'm going to provide him with a list of the people closest in my life so we can help them too. So I turn it around.

He at first seemed excited when I told him about my high ranking within my company. But now I grill him for the next twenty minutes on what this company actually does. I told him I understand how my current company generates money to pay for itself and my salary. But where does their profit come from. He used great tactics in never answering this question. He does however say he wants to retire in 5 years. I asked how thats possible, where to these huge amounts of commission come from, his answer involves helping families and thats all he cares about, a total contradiction of his previous statment.
There was alot of other dialogue which further demonstrates how crafty they train their people how to take advantage of your average joe. your everyday "im tired of living paycheck to paycheck, how can I get out of these troubles." The meeting ends with "You're a very technical guy, you wouldn't fit in here because you ask questions first, you gotta be willing to just do things." I laugh at him and ask if he really expects people to make life decisions without asking questions first. He asks me to leave.

Sadly my co-worker is not one of these people. She genuinely thought by bringing me she was doing me a favor, and that she is in the business of helping people. All WFG cares about doing is raping the people you refer to them by getting them to move their money around in a way that helps their company, and if their lucky getting someone new to sign up and refer more people. It's always win win for them.

All I can suggest is to anyone considering this brainwashing cult, is look very hard between the lines. I've seen alot of post explaining how they screw people, but I'm trying to explain the little tactics they use to recruit people in the first place. No normal job gives someone 20 awards to post on their wall. No job gives you a ring to show off how much money you make. No job sticks you in a room with 50 other people to tell you how great the job is. Jobs do not have to! Either it's worth working there or not. Back when I had to interview for a job I sat at a table and handed someone my resume and explained why I was the right guy for the job. You're resume should not consist of a check for $500. Good luck.
