Appliance Smart Buyer Beware Deceptive Advertising Champlin Minnesota

Appliance Smart tells you that they sell scratch and dent items that they purchase directly from the manufacturer, well I found out today that is not the case and if you do a little homework you may find the same, here is what happened:

I purchased what I was told was a brand new refrigerator, I got it and twelve hours later picked up my perfectly cold and frozen items from a friends house and filled my fridge and freezer and went off to bed. In the morning I woke up to warm items in my fridge and completely defrosted and bad items in my freezer, yes my ice cream, steak, chicken, scallops, everything smelled horrible and made a huge mess in my freezer, so I called Appliance Smart who refused to replace the fridge and stated they would have someone look at it in two days, that was not acceptable to me.

I then called whirlpool and after giving them the model and serial number they were perplexed, why you ask, that serial number happened to be registered in 02/2007 to someone else so they asked me if I purchased it second hand and I replied no, I purchased it brand new......after further research they informed me that it had been registered previously and serviced previously and deemed defective, here is the clincher it was sold elsewhere.

I then called Appliance Smart and left a message for the Regional Manager, in the meantime I went into a local appliance store and shared my story while looking at refrigerators and the representative explained to me that he used to work at another store that went out of business and Appliance Smart purchased all of their inventory (new and used) and put all of their inventory on the floor the day after his store closed. I then went to yet another store while waiting for my return call and talked to yet another person who used to work for Appliance Smart who confirmed that yes, they purchase inventory from repair shops, appliance stores going out of business, ect.......anyone who will sell it to them. I did finally call and get the regional manager and I told him my findings and he refused to comment but did finally take back my fridge and refund not only my fridge amount but also the cost of my lost food, but it did take me fighting and doing some research to get my money back.

Just keep in mind that you may not be getting a "new product" as they may be claiming to sell you.
