In July 2009 my husband had some dental work done that cost him $1838.  The dental office was promoting a Care Credit credit card.  No interest for 12 months.  We applied, were approved on site and was told we would get our first months bill in a month.

A month went by we didn't receive a bill.  The next month we found out that our bill went to the wrong address.  A neighbor received the bill and brought it over.  When we saw that it was almost a month late we called the credit card company.  I explained the situation and the customer service rep said that all I had to do was double up on my payment and they will reverse any late fee charges.  They also corrected the address so this would not happen again.

I made a double payment of $112 for August and September.  Thinking that this was now resolved I received my next months bill and paid that ON TIME.  Noticing that there was a charge of $39.99 that had been reversed.  But there was still a charge for $2.00 which I ignored.

The following months I continued to pay the minimum balance but was still getting a charge of $2.00 finance but since it was only $2.00 I never got around to calling the company about it.

My January bill came on the 2nd of January and I notice a finance charge of $204.64.  I was so shocked and confused every other month I was only getting charged an extra $2.00 and now all of a sudden 6 months later I am getting charged $204.64?

When I called customer service I was on hold for over an hour.  When someone finally answered  I was immediately directed to their "Escalation Department" and had to hold for another 30 minutes.  The person who finally answered was so rude to me that he ended up hanging up on me when I asked him if he could hold on for a second while I pulled up my bank account information on my computer.

I called a second time another rude customer service rep from the Escalation Department insisted that I did not know what I was talking about and that I had paid 2 month late.  There was nothing she could do and if I have a dispute I have to write a letter stating my "problem"  I asked her if she could go over my account with me she refused I also asked her to send me my past statements as I do not have them anymore and she said she would and I also asked her for the address where I had to write to but I never got that address.

After calling a 3rd time I finally got someone competent and she helped me with the information that I needed in order to start my letter.  She also stated that the payment that I made of $112.00 was supposed to be $113.00 and this was the reason why I was being charged all these late fees.  She also put in a request for my past statements as it was not done by the previous rep.

I wrote my letter and received a 2 responses in the mail today one stating that, "After reviewing your account, we are unable to comply with your request to remove the requested fee(s).  Please refer to your credit card terms and conditions......."

The second letter states almost the same thing except it says, "A recent promotion on your account has expired or has been canceled.  Any remaining balance and applicable fees, including account protection from the promotion, have become part of your regular balance.  If the promotion was not paid in full before the expiration date, the accrued Interest Charges will appear as a transaction on  the first statement after the promotion expired or was can canceled.  Your current balance on your account is $1709.63."

Now I don't know what further action I can take to have this issue resolved.  I DO NOT want to pay $1709.63 when I only owe $1461.

These guys are a BIG RIPOFF all I want to do is pay off what I owe and cancel this card.

Thanks for your help
