Complaint Review: AmeriPlan USA - Plano Texas
- AmeriPlan USA Plano, Texas United States of America

- Category: Dental Services
This firm sells their plan for discounted dental, but the providers that they use jack up thier costs so there is no discount. I called my regular dentist who was not on the plan, and he was $50 less than Ameriplan dentist after the discount. I called three other dentists, not on the plan and found the same thing. I called to cancel my membership, and still have yet to receive my refund. Beware of this company.....

AmeriPlan provides great dental discounts MOST of the time
AUTHOR: Greg - (U.S.A.)
SUBMITTED: Sunday, March 19, 2006
Aaron,
Every Dentist in AmeriPlan is supposed to follow our fee schedule.
In different parts of the country there are different fee schedules.
I looked up your area and you are in a Teal Fee Schedule area.
The American Dental Association provides AmeriPlan with what the average cost of a procedure in an area is. We use that information to set our discounts. Such as the following. . .
Procedure & ADA SRP - AmeriPlan Price-Discount
Initial Oral Exam $100 - $32 68%
Periodic Oral Exam $60 - $12 80%
X-Rays
Intraoral Complete $122 - $50 59%
Panoramic $110 - $50 55%
Regular Teeth Cleaning $95 - $42 56%
Deep Teeth Cleaning $215 - $75 65%
Our Money back guarantee states that if you go to one of our Dental Providers you will get his services at these prices.
Aaron, these prices are on the brochure that contained your application.

Under the Locate a Provider find the Dentists in your area and under the info column it says what fee schedule they follow. Click on it to get prices on common procedures.
Plus, a call to the dentist over the phone will often never reveal the true cost of treatment.
Sure a Dentist will tell you they will clean your teeth for $95, but what they may not say is you will not run into their office and sit right down and get your teeth cleaned.
Before that happens you have to get an Initial Oral Exam, Xrays and pay disposal fees. THEN you can get your teeth cleaned for $95.
The easiset way to be sure you are comparing apples to apples is to get the Dental Code for the Procedure it starts with a D and is followed by 4 digits. Then ask how much that procedure costs without and with your AmeriPlan discount.
If the dentist is charging more than he should you should report him to AmeriPlan. Or contact me through www.bigdentalsavings.com and I'll be glad to assist you.
Also, you do know you get dicounts on Vision, Prescription & Chiropractic serves for FREE don't you?
If the local dentists in your area are charging less than what the ADA suggests they charge then you are in a truly wonderful area. But I suspect that is not the case.
But do not expect AmeriPlan to give you your money back unless one of our providers does not give you the discount we guarantee.
Could you let me know what procedures you needed done and the name of some of the dentists you called so I can verify your story?

AMERIPLAN PROVIDERS DO NOT CHANGE PRICING

I have Ameriplan, as does several of my family members. Also, I work for a provider, that accepts insurance and discount plans. Prices are the same for ALL. Anyone in the dental or medical field can tell you fees are set on a fee schedule. If you want to test, then call a provider, as for price like you don't have insurance or like you a insurance not a discount. Then when you go in, or call back on another day as a different person and ask the fee, and then say I have Ameriplan, what is my discount?
That's simple enough for a first grader to figure out if fees are changed. WHICH THEY ARE NOT!

AmeriPlan the dentist on their provider list do not jack up their prices to make up for the discount

I can guarentee you that the dentist on their provider list do not jack up their prices to make up for the discount. I have family that are dentist with AmeriPlan and they have a contract with them to follow their prices.
You do get a true discount for this service, if a dentist is doing this let AmeriPlan know and they will be dealt with. AmeriPlan has saved me and my family alot of money with their benefits.
