I purchased my washer/dryer set in June of 2010 but did not have installed until early August due to a home remodel. Item spec: Model # MHWE400WW01.  Within eight months of ocassional use (the home was not occupied on a permanant basis) I started hearing a noise during the spin cycle that only got louder. My first call to Maytag was before my warranty was up on the unit.  Service technician came out, diagnosed the problem as a bad bearing needing replacement and interior drum also needing replacement.  Maytag extended my warranty for an additional 6 months so instead of 12, I had an 18 month warranty. Shiments came in for the replacement items and the repair company made the repairs.  All in 2011.

In 2012, I started having the same problem with the loud noises so again, I called Maytag.  This time, I am outside my warranty but I was persistant.  I was out of pocket for the service call fee of $70.00, but I had the same diagnosis.  Within a week, I have the very large boxes in my garage and a repair technician making the same repairs they did in 2011.  After two repairs, I should have a darn good working machine right!  WRONG!!! By the end of 2012, yes December, I was yet again making a call to MAYTAG about the same darn problem......  WTH!

This time it mattered not how nasty they got with me on the phone, because I could not see them... I was bent on getting this repair done at their cost.  But why should I have to go throught this yet again.  This machine cost me over $800.00 and the problem was consistent over a period of what is now almost three years.  Same as before, I paid for the service call, this time $90.00 and no had a diagnosis of bad bearings, interior and exterior drum needing replacing.  Maytag picked up the cost of the parts and repairs in December 2012 for a total of three repairs for the same issue oin under three years.  Exactly a year later, in December 2013, Iexperienced the same problem, and could identify the issue myself without needing to be out of pocket $90+ dollars.

I called Maytag but this time it was different.  This time thewasher was referred to the MATAG Exchange Process.  Not what it sounds like, that's for sure!  I must now pay half the cost of a comparable machine since this crappy model is no longer made and MAYTAG will "pick up the other half."  I should not have to nor should any other consumer who purchased this product and had these problems.  This had to be a known problem and there should be some type of resolution other than the customer being out of pocket even more money.  I have an old model washer in another home, top loaded and probably not energy effecient, but it's almost 13 years with no repairs.  I say we put MAYTAG on blast and make them responsible for bringing this crap to the consumers.
