I recently purchased a home, and was advised it would be a good idea to purchase a home warranty policy.

The first thing I did was to google search for a home warranty policy, which would cover appliances, heating and cooling system etc...

Nationwide home warranty was one of the first sites that appeared during the quest for this protection. Upon reading the coverage on their web-site homewarranty.com, and speaking with a representative who assured me their company was the best choice for home warranty.

Shortly after the plan was purchased I started to look at the plan and benefits offered. Also reviewing the complaints that this company had against prompted me to contact their customer service for a cancellation.

This was not accomplished with one phone call, nor two, three or even four or more. I was placed on hold, then sent to another representative who advised me someone would get back to me. This never happened.

Finally after weeks of trying to get through I reached a representative (who is no longer employed with this company) advising me to send an email that is listed on their site, stating I wanted to cancel, requesting the date the $ 50 cancellation fee would be drafted.

After sending a couple emails I waited for a response that never came, and payments were still being drafted from my account.

Today my heating system and my toilet broke. Knowing that I am still paying for this policy that was never canceled I called their customer service center with a claim.

They sent two licensed professionals to my home. When they called for the repair quote the representatives requested to know if the fee of $50 was paid. After the quote and confirming the service fee was paid the representive advises this claim is now pending maintenance records for the toilet and the heating system. It was known stated that a board on the system and a new toilet was needed.

Since I just purchased the house in June..there was no way to give Nationwidehomewarranty the maintenance records they are requesting.

I asked the manager ....who keeps maintenance records on a toilet? If there is a problem it is usually something simple and a plumber would not be involved. She stated this is policy, we need these records and this claim will be frozen. You will need to pay for this out of pocket.

Again I said this is not what your website says, and furthermore I tried to cancel this policy. This was back and forth for over an hour, asking her what is covered since I do not have records for anything...as a new home buyer, there are no records. The agent stated nothing is covered without records.

The manager also stated if you close your account we will send this to collections.

A $100 in service fees and nothing is even fixed. I went online and googled nationwidehomewarranty complaints...which brought up thousands of complaints, most of them for the same reasons as what I have gone through.

On one site it was stated that this company does not have a physical address, and it was registered under GO-Daddy in 2007.

I had asked the manager who called herself Rene Jackson....To whom can a person complain to ...she stated there is no-one else. If you would like to write to the pob on the site www.nationwidehomewarranty.com that is your only option.

Customer service has been rude, transferring calls to other areas that seem like a big circle...placing calls on hold for long periods of time, then answering can I help you?

Today I sent a complaint letter to the FBI. I am hoping they will investigate this company.

Don't be fooled by the name...this is NOT the Nationwide is on your side ..but an imposter who promises to set your mind at ease if something on the plan breaks down...Seems the name that is stolen definately does not live up to the Nationwide we have trusted and respected.
