I pulled up to the toll booth and looked for the amount to pay.  I did not see it at first.  I tossed a dime into the hopper.  $0.10 appeared on the screen.  I then saw the sign above the screen that gave prices.  The price for my little sports car is $3.00.  I didnt see it at first because my car is way below the height of the sign.

I took three, one dollar bills out of my pocket but I could not reach the dollar bill feeder because my sports car is very low to the ground and the bill feeder is high.   I had to wiggle the car back and forth to make room to open the door.  I then got out of the car and put the three, one  dollar bills into the machine.  The screen showed $3.10.

The lights turned green. I checked your machine for change. I found two worthless Mexican coins.

You kept my extra $0.10.  I got back into my car, put the seat belt on and drove away.  The lights were still green when I drove away.

I can only guess that I took too long to get back into my car and drive away before your camera went off. Or, maybe when I had to move forward and backward to make room to open the door I crossed some invisible line that tripped the camera.  Either way, I paid $3.10 and I do not owe any more.  They should do a quicky investigation before they issue a citation.  I guess when your a debtor in possion (in the process of bankrupty) you have to try to rip off as many people as you can to get more money in.

Hello wopmario:

We're sorry to hear about your experience. The assumptions you made about why you might have been issued a citation could be correct. Our machines are designed for the average-sized car to be able to use them comfortably and we do apologize that you had trouble with the height of the machine from your vehicle. We dont encourage drivers to exit their vehicles or to back up in the lanes due to the potential danger in doing so. Censors at each of the Automated Machines may read driving back and forth over them as multiple trips. With the citation number you were issued, we can look into the citation and in instances where we see a trip was paid by the vehicle, we will waive it. This kind of error is easily proven. Simply fill out the dispute form on the back of your citation, mail or fax it to us and well get the result of your dispute back to you in about a week. Our violations team will look at the transaction and confirm that just before the citation was issued on the same date and time, that there was a paid trip with your license plate. Typically, disputes must be in writing and are not done over the phone, but if you provide the citation number, well look into it right away. E-mail us at customerservice@sbexpress.com or reply to this post.

Our Automated Cash and Credit Card machines do not give change as stated on the Automated Machines but we are happy to now offer the credit card option as a convenience to drivers. We heard our customers request for them and many travelers are using them each day! Were also pleased to announce that as of April 29, 2011, South Bay Expressway successfully emerged from Chapter 11 reorganization and continues to run business as usual.

As soon as we hear from you, were happy to look further into your citation and correct errors if one was made.
