The Petsmart in Danvers, MA as well as the Petsmart in Salem, MA is a HUGE RIPOFF. I havent worked in any other Petsmart stores but it seems the policies are all the same.

I can tell you, the consumer that the groomers are paid by commission and are FORCED to bring in to the company so many dollars a week. The Bathers are over booked and responsible for their work as well as the Groomers.

If a bather complains that they are over worked by their own work load and a slacking groomer they are punished. If someone complains that a groomer is stressed out and unfit to groom dogs they are punished. How would you feel if you saw a groomer bawling her eyes out at her grooming table? Ray Berg DOES NOT CARE THAT THAT HAPPENS. Mr. Berg is the store mgr. at the Danvers Petsmart.

The store manager does not care that the floor is not mopped daily. The only thing Petsmart cares about is numbers. The kennels are left with feces and dogs tethered to the floor with soap on them because they are too overbooked.

In Salem MA, the Grooming Mgr. has been caught smelling like "pot". The store Mgr. doesn't take action because Heather brings in the numbers. Also Heather has been reported to treat numerous employees in an abusive fashion. Nobody takes action because she "brings in the numbers" at your pets expense. She also sabotages her employees great skills by chopping away at your pets haircut. Supposedly a 17 yr. groomer but has to screw up PETSMARTS REPUTATION for her own gain. Also takes their clients and grooms them at her house.

Petsmart is a money making machine.....not at all concerned with the safety of your pet as long as the "numbers" are met.

I'm sorry, but that last rebuttal is wrong. I was a salon manager for Petsmart in a couple of different states, and they have what is known as a "PLAN". Each salon must groom enough pets to make said plan. if it is not made, there are constant questions as to why. Groomers and bathers are repeatedly told to sell, sell, sell. Top Dog packages, tooth brushing, extra shampoos, "Spa" packages, the more the better. and no matter how much they do sell, it never seems to be enough, because the "PLAN" rises. I have seen groomers who should not be doing more than 6 or 7 dogs a day being told to do 9 or 10. I have seen store managers telling bathers to double book themselves. I have seen all of us run out to the time clock, clock out for a break and then run back to grooming to finish more dogs. I have eaten in the bathing room because I couldn't make it back to the break room because you are also expected to help any customer who happens to see you. Look, I am all for customer service, but when it takes someone 15 minutes just to walk to the bathroom and another 15 to walk back because 4 people have stopped you on the way there, you start to wish for a paper cup to pee in...

It clearly states in the PetSmart PNP (policy and procedures) handbook that any employee can refuse a to do a dog if they feel (for any reason) that they cannot perform the task safely. Having more dogs to do than you can control is a safety hazard~because you cannot safely monitor the well~being of each dog if you have too many. Your specific salon manager and store manager may be so focused on numbers (because it is a business), that they're not following the PNP's and should be reported immediately! Petsmart wants to continue it's success and grow as a company, but the guidelines are set to keep everyone and every pet safe in the process. Petsmart is not going to take a chance on it's reputation for a few extra bucks if it means putting anyone or any animal at risk.
