Do not use American Home Shield!!! They are a SCAM!!!!!! I have been a customer of American home shield for 8yrs and last weekend our A/C died. They could t get anyone to come out to fix it so they gave me permission to use an independent vendor. I had to pay out of my own pocket and still haven’t been reimbursed. The vendor gave a diagnosis and estimate. AHS refused to let him finish the job because they said his cost was too high so left us in the excessive heat even though they said the AC was covered due to old age. They had been unable to get anyone else out here and have been giving us the run around and now are insisting after almost a week of no air, during a heatwave, that they now want to send their own company out for a 2nd opinion. They have been unable to get anyone to come out up until I wrote to corporate yesterday. Now finally 6 days later they sent out JET Mobile Enterprises (their vendor, look up the horrible reviews) and he came out today. An hour after he left I received an email from AHS stating that I am NOT covered for the AC condenser that is 16yrs old and will need to pay $1415 to get the coil fixed. This is completely unacceptable and exactly what I expected them to do so they do not have to pay for this. That is exactly why AHS insisted on a 2nd opinion from "their vendor” so that he would write his diagnosis and estimate in a way so that AHS would not have to pay out!!!!! My independent contractor, gave the exact same diagnosis and I was told by AHS that it was covered under the contract due to old age. However they said his estimate was "too high” and denied it and insisted on a 2nd opinion since they said their vendor would give them a lower cost. Yea, a lower cost meaning "not covered” so AHS doesn’t pay. This company is a complete SCAM I have been researching and have found many other people in the exact situation as me. I already reached out to the news media about this, and filed a case with BBB. It is ludicrous for AHS to not cover this. I have been a paying customer for 8yrs and have paid them more out of my pocket over the years than a new replacement AC would cost. My family of 4 with two children are still displaced from their home due to having no AC in a heatwave for almost 7 days already! This is completely unacceptable! Stay far far away from AHS!! Their reps just keep giving you the run around and transfer you back and forth in a never ending circle. We still have no AC!!!
