Valvoline Instant Oil Change Defective oil filter Maple Grove MN

On Jan 21, 2022 while driving my Jeep starting making a consistent knocking noise and the engine, traction control, oil, and tire pressure lights came on.  I immediately went to the Valvoline on Coon Rapids Blvd.  They stated I needed an oil change.  They started the oil change and then said my oil life was good and I did not need an oil change.  

  I had the Jeep towed to Walser in Hopkins. My Jeep was still under warranty. Walser said that the oil filter had failed causing engine failure.  I called Progressive and Valvoline to start a claim.  On Jan 31, reps from Walser, Progressive, and Valvoline inspected my car and took pictures of the defective oil filter and pictures of the un damaged housing unit.  Valvoline called Feb 4 stating the fault was with Walser and Walser would need to repair my car.

 I stated that the issue was the filter, not the housing unit.   On Feb 10, Progressive notified me they would be closing their claim since the fault was with Valvoline.  My warranty with Walser does not cover defective oil filters.   On Feb 11, I contacted Valvoline and they stated the claim with them had been closed Feb 4.  They resopened the claim and said a manger would be contacting me on Feb 14.  I sent them the pictures of the housing unit.  I let them know I would be filing claims with the BBB and the attorney general's office.

I have spoken with service advisors from Barnett in White Bear Lake and Walser in Hopkins.  They both have Jeeps in for service with the same issue.  Defective oil filter causing engine failure.
