I have been trying to get Ocwen to modify my mortgage which is at 10.65% interest. Everytime I call I get the run around. One day out of conversation I asked where the peson was located. He and all others I've spoken to since have answered..."India". What is this country doing to the AMERICAN people?

I get calls all the time because I'm 1 day past my grace period. Nobody will help. There is over $100,000 in equity in my property which they are trying their hardest to take from me. I've put it on the market, it's prime real estate, but they won't give up!!!!

#3 Consumer Suggestion

Stay current with your payments.

You have over $100,000 in equity. This is all the more reason to stay CURRENT on you mortgage payments. If it goes into foreclosure, you're in for a financial train wreck! It would be a good idea for you to pay an independent appraiser to give you the current value of your home so you have an accurate assessment of your asset.

The other rebuttal is correct. They have no obligation to "modify" anything. A contract is a contract is a contract.

It might be an idea to review any other credit obligations you have. for example; if you're making car payments, it might be an idea to get out from under that so that you have more assets to pay your mortgage.

Good luck.

They don't have to modify anything!

Your mortgage has a contract which states what your APR is and how much you will pay back. They are not obligated to modify your rate and if you are paying late, they're even less inclined to try and help you out.

One day past your grace period is normally at least 7-10 days or more past your due date; a grace period is not a due date. They have the right to call you after 2 days past your due date because you're in actuality, defaulting on your loan agreement each time you pay late. All the equity in the world isn't going to help you if you're not paying as agreed on your obligations.

Greedy Ocwen at it Again

AUTHOR: Lesa - (U.S.A.)

Ocwen just will not change--they will do their best to wear you down and steal everything they can from you. They will steal all of your equity and your home if you do not arm yourself with knowledge and fight back. Go to www.loansafe.org and maybe some of the helpful advisors can give you some ideas. It seems that nothing stops Ocwen except a good lawyer who knows all of their tricks.

They purposely bombard you with automated phone messages all day long to harrass you. And of course when you call back it takes forever to get a live voice who generally knows nothing. They brainwash you with the idiot recording how great and helpful they are. This is all intentional and many homeowners do not recognize this fraud. Educate yourself to all of their scams and know your rights. Ocwen tries to make the homeowner think that they are the only ones to help. They do not think the homeowner is smart enough to seek legal counsel but you probably will have to--to get their attention.

Also very very important--file complaints against Ocwen with everyone you can think of. Loansafe has a list of all of the agencies such as the FTC, HUD and many others including your State Attorney General etc. The news media is also interested in hearing your problems and can give good publicity to expose their problems. Their attitude will change when they see you are fighting back. Hopefully their stock will drop to nothing and alert investors.

Know your are not alone and seek help soon as they are probably making their move to foreclose as we speak.
