1and1 is a company that advertises in many publications. There clame to fame is that they have an address to contact them and they deliver the statements that an individual with no experience can go to this site and within an hour be up and running with a web site. The saying I have land for sale that is never underwater and is allways great property and you find out is under water most of the year is a reasonable expression of this companies prowess.

I was concerned that I could not understand their website and I requested the sales department to lead me through the signing up for 5 domains with 300 gb of space and 25 pages on each domain. I also stated (quite clearly and the sales person said they completely understood what I wanted. I expressed a need for Frontpage 2002 availability, Windows and Microsoft extensions within the Frontpage available. They asked me to check off certain selections which was 1and1 Developer package with Windows and Frontpage 2002 accessability including Microsoft extensions. ( I use the Excel and Access and several other programs in my Web Sites.) They told which to select and we then came to a box that was to be checked if I would like to receive a software package at 6.99 for delivery. I selected 2 Domains and the charge was and additional 5.99. The sales person couldn't get my information to pass the checked box to continue to the Sales Carriage. It took 4 or 5 of their employees to figure on how to get past this point.

Finally I added my payment information and I re-itterated what I needed and they stated without hesitation that all I wanted was in this package. I received an invoice that listed what I was getting and I received and additional e-mail that told me that it would be ready in 1 hour. There may be a delay from 12 to 24 hours if there were problems with the domains, but I would be up and running in 24 hours at the most. 24 hours later I attempted to post a web site to the location according to their instructions. I was told that I didn't have the Frontpage and it would have to be added and that would take 4 hours. I waited the four hours and re-posted my web site. It came up every time with their cover sheet stating that this space was reserved for me and was waiting for the program. I was on the phone with the tech support for 4 hours and findly after talking to 5 techies and 2 supervisors that I didn't have a windows platform I had a Linux platform. I was then told that it would take 5 days to switch to a Windows platform.

Needless to say by this time I was at my wits end. They actually switched their web site to include the words Linux and Windows within the time I hung up and checked the site. This is only the beginning of the deceipt. I was told I should have read the listings more clearly because I had made a mistake in the selections I made. Look back in the comments and you will find I had them lead me from one link to the next according to their instructions and they affirmed that I had a windows based platform with Frontpage and Microsoft Extensions.

Exasperated at this point I called the sales department and told them to cancel the current contract and give me a new contract including all of the items I required. I had to push to get them to do this because by this time I had spent about 3 days trying to publish my website. They changed me to what I asked for in the beginning, but when it got to the point where the check box was to select the use of the software package, I was informed that it was not available with the windows platform I must accept the Frontpage 2003 as the software package instead and agreed. I went through to the payment section and they agreed to debit my account for the amount paid and then charge me for the new material. This was of course not done I was immediately charged for the new platform and it took 5 days to get the credit I was supposed to get immediately. Actually all they had to do was change the platform and keep the charges and everything would have been fine.

This was only the beginning - during the next 4 days I was on the phone 10 hours a day for the four days because for one reason or another the posting to my sight ended in blank pages. I was given redirection and changes to the default.htm changed to Index.htm. Anyone that uses Frontpage knows the default.htm is the default page, but they wanted me to change everything. I then was asked to add a default.asp with special information in the HTML portion. I asked them to send me an e-mail as to what they wanted me to put in the HTML and I clipped it out by cutting and pasting the information into the default.asp. I then again tried to post my site. I was then told I had made typographical errors in the HTML portion of the Default.asp. (Remember I copied the text and pasted it in the file. It would be impossible to have typographical errors unless they were in the original they had sent me. )

After 4 days and 10 hours a day on the phone with tech support I finally got on line. Of course I was told that everything I had done was incorrect and they had to change everything. A copy of the site was posted to a friends server in two min and ran the first time. The only reason I was attempting to get a larger company to handle the site was that I might expect less down time. I had been experiencing 1 hour a day and 4 hours every weekend for their servicing of their equipment. This I hoped would be overcome with a larger company. Hold it!! There is more to come. I recieved the software in the mail and I received the package that worked with Linux and not Windows. I called to get the proper package and prepared to send the material back without opening any information. I was then told I was not entitled to any package of Frontpage 2003 which the made a point of telling me the I must take that package if I were to receive the software for 6.99. I was called a liar again and told no one had told me this and when I looked at the website they had changed it in their website within 1 hour.

If god came down and told me the only company I could use was 1 and 1, I would tell them I would retire first. After telling them I would file a report to Ripoffreport.com and typed the information that I would include in the content, they had 3 days to change any information they thought was incorrect and I was giving them a chance to make sure that all I said was correct. Three days came and went so I called them and asked if they had received the email I had sent them and I was told "Do anything you want they couldn't care less and hung up." This company has the worst tech support I have ever seen in 50 years of programing. The sales staff, unless you talked to a supervisor didn't know how to find their behind with both their hands.

If after reading this material you still use this company for Web hosting you need a severe cranial infusion. They by far are the worst company related to Tech Support, Correct Sales Information, Straight talk - telling you the truth when you ask for information, and following up with the client to see that the service is adequate. I use the word adequate. Not good or ever almost good. ---NOT EVEN CLOSE!!!. The worst company I have ever had the experience of doing business with. Stay away - Far away!!!. You will drive yourself crazy. If you are crazy you will end up in a looney bin.

Your service already has 11 complaints against this company for many of the same areas.
