1. Rude staff especially Lydia. 2. It's a very big club and unlike most other gyms, your access to tv viewing is extremely limited. That means that if you go upstairs, where all the treadmills, elipticals, bicycles, and stair masters are, they is a total of 2 tv’s hanging from the ceiling, and unless you are in a few places which are right in front of them, you can’t see them very well. And no matter where you are in that gym, you cannot listen to them because there is no connection set up to any of the machines- really? Even most much less expensive gyms, have all the tv’s hooked up to the machines. So you can basically star into space or watch people play basketball while you spend time on these machines. If you’re a guy and love football, forget about seeing your favorite games if you here on the weekend. Also there are only about 7 bicycles up there compared to over 100 other machines. You often have to wait a long time to get on one. Who’s the genius that thought this up? 3. It’s really very hard to use the basketball courts unless you are a frequent user because: they are very crowded, most of the younger kids grab all the basketballs and actually stand around the sides holding them. It’s very territorial and very clicky. You would have to come very late at night or very early in the morning. 4. The pool and jacuzi look very crowded and this gives the added disadvantage of making the locker room all full of water all over the place. 5. Although they have a lot of extra macines for power lifters, they don’t have a lot of machines for us ordinary people that most gyms have like: a dedicated, stomach twister machine, a straight up push with your hands shoulder press machine, a sitting chair chest press machine 6. The sales people are very aggressive and want you to sign a contract before you even get to use your 3 day free pass - don’t do it.

When I tried them, I found the above problems and also found out that some of the machines don’t work in a way that I like - compared to other gyms I tried that do. Don’t be pressured to sign until you try all the eqipment and ask members in their questions. But this is the reasons I am not going to outline below why I do not recommend anyone join this club or any planet fitness: If there is a problem with a local club, you cannot call or speak to the corporate office. When you try to call the main office, 800 412-6348 or 888 243-5002, the automated system asks you for your member i.d. If you are not a member, they transfer you to sales. Sales tells you they don't handle customer complaints and call back the automated system and put down you are a customers so you can talk to someone.

When you talk to someone, it's not really customer service but the resolution dept. They tell you they have no supervisors on duty at those locations. They tell you they cannot help you with any problems at any specific club because they are independently owned franchises. When you demand to speak to someone in authority, they transfer you to a member services, resolution desk specialist whom basically tells you that if you have a complaint about a club they will forward the complaint back to the manager of that same club that you are complaining about. They tell you that there is no way to reach any executives of the club, like the vp or the ceo. They have no email, they have no phones (apparently they don’t want to be bothered, they are more concerned with the bottom line, how much money they are pulling in). When you tell them about policy discrepancies they don’t seem to care.

For example: 1. The 3 day free pass to try out the club. It states on their website that you can use it at ANY 24 HOUR FITNESS. It gives you an expiration date which is almost a week later. It says that it is a free 3 day pass - nothing more. However, when you go into a local club, like the paramas 24 hour fitness for example, rude desk clerks like Lydia will tell you to go sit in the corner for ½ hour and wait for the sales associate to come and check you in. They will also tell you that you have to use in 3 consecutive days (lie). They will also tell you that you can’t use it unless you virtually live next door to them (lie). When you ask for the manager, they won’t give it to you. When you ask for the district managers phone, email and name, they won’t give it to you. They will give you the number to main office, and when you call that, you get a message saying that you will be waiting 20-30 minutes to speak to a clerk.

So anyway, when you get the main office and are finally transferred to a member services, resolution desk specialist (after complaining you want to speak to someone in authority), one of these reps like Isabel, emp# z3472 (you were transferred to Mexico by the way). You find that she is more courteous than her predecessors and tries hard to help you. But she basically says, not exactly in these words, that there is a secret company policy written somewhere that validates the above claims about you must live close by to the club to use the 3 day pass. YET AGAIN, AS YOU READ ABOVE OR JUST GO ON THEIR WEBSITE, 24FITNESS.COM, AND see it says YOU CAN USE IT AT ANY CLUB. ANY MEANS IN ENGLISH: not restricted to any particular one. This secret policy is not what anyone showed you. It’s not anything you agreed to. You agreed to what is on their website and the 3 emails they send you confirming exactly that. And again, she finds this same secret policy, which she can’t tell you from 24 firness book, what manual, or even the name of the bulleting or email, saying that you have to live nearby to use the club. When you explain to this elevated resolution center gal, Isabel, emp# z3472, that is might be3 considered discrimination to abrutrarily turn some people away using this invisible policy, and ask to speak to the vp or ceo about this, she says you can try writing a letter to headquarters. Otherwise there is no way to reach them.

I found this particulary policy enforced by most clubs and the worst is the Paramus NJ sports club facility. You do not need to be confronted by rude employees with poor communication and business skills. I for one, will never enroll at any 24 fitness because of this chaos and especially the Paramus NJ sports club office. In closing, think about how stupid it is to try to force people who may have never been in a gym before and are interested in maybe joining to get into shape to force them to come on 3 consecutive days to use all the equipment instead of acknowledging they have a week or so to use the 3 days. People do not join this gym is my best advice. There are better gyms out there that have better personell to help you in the gym and the proper adminstrative services set up at the corporate office to help you if you run into a problem. Imagine you ran into a billng problem with this organization and can’t get any resolution from the basic clerks, You have a big problem.
