In July 2006 I bought a big screen t.v. when they delivered it they gave me a broken remote that the back was torn off. I was told that they were ordering me a new one and they would bring it to me when it came in. Needless to say I had to pick it up myself several weeks later.

Everything was going fine paid my payments on a monthly basis and was never late. June 1, 2007 I went into to Aarons to do the early payout of $86.59 that was stapled to our contract which I had in hand. Well that's not right you owe $173.18 for your early payout. I said thats not what it says on the our early payout sheet stapled to our contract.

The man says well I see what you are talking about let me get the manager Lonnie. Well he came to the computer and tap, tap, taps and says no you can't do the early payout of $86.59 because back in Sept.2006 you only paid $47.61 for the month so that changed everything. I said thats a lie we paid $95.24 every single month because I only get paid once a month.

I said so we are not current? Lonnie said yes you are current I said that doesn't even make sense. Then he tried a different route well your early payout is $173.18 that taxes, insurance yep thats the right amount. He printed a new sheet out and handed it to us that he didn't bother to look at that said our early payout was $95.24. I was like fine I will pay that then he looked at it and was like no thats wrong it should be $173.18 to get to the point we argued about for 20 minutes and was getting nowhere with this extremly rude Manager Lonnie that we ended paying $173.18 and told him that we would never be back again.

It's one thing to be lied to but then to be treated so rudely by a Manager that couldn't even keep his story straight. Lesson learned this was my first time dealing with Aarons and its my last time so long Manager Lonnie.

#1 UPDATE EX-employee responds

Same thing happened to me

AUTHOR: Jeremy - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, June 08, 2009

As a former employee, I thought I'd seen all the bad stuff at Aaron's, until I was a customer. The exact same thing happened to me. Even though I was trying to get the payoff for my couch confirmed, suddenly it's about $140 more than it was when I signed the contract! I also had the sheet, and was also told that they had to add in all the taxes and services. You ask for the payoff, which anywhere else would be EVERYTHING, and they give you the old hidden fees thing. It's a scam, and I can say that from both sides of the fence now.
