My wife and I contracted Action Moving & Storage for a move from Montreal to Vancouver 2 years ago. We initially got good service by Brian Pleet, but things soured rapidly.

They were moving everything we had and they delivered our belongings 35 days later than the date we initially agreed upon. During these 35 days, their dispatch Vince Tiscia kept telling us that the truck was a few days away and that he would call me back in 2-3 days; which he never did. When I would call back 2-3 days later and got to talk to him (most of the time they would take my calls, I had to call from different phones) he would tell me that the truck had a small delay but that it was a few days away, and that he would call me back in 2-3 days. After a few times of this scheme, he would just hang upon me. We had family in Montreal who went to see them in person and to get our boxes if they were still in Montreal; they told them that our boxes were on the way. We later learned that this was not true, and that our boxes were still in their warehouse in Montreal at that time.

When the truck finally made it to Vancouver, they asked for full payment before we even get to see our things. We asked for a discount to compensate for the 30+days delay and they threaten us that if we didn’t pay in full right away, they would not deliver our belongings. We paid and they gave us a 2hrs window for the delivery the next day. This was impossible for us as we were living in a high rise with specific rules about moving in and out.

As it was agreed upon, we expected to get a proof of the weight of our shipment when they delivered, but the driver (not from Action Moving & Storage, but from Atlas Van Lines) did not know what we were talking about. We weighted every single boxes and discovered that they over charged us by 600 lbs.

We recently went to the small claim court to get a minimal compensation and their Director of Operations Teresa Diodati who was representing them lied to the judge and blamed it on us for not having told them our address in Vancouver. She told the judge a different version then the one she initially gave us as we were seeking compensation. She told the judge that we were the ones who prevented them from delivering our boxes by not giving them our address as they repeatedly contacted us over the 35 days to get our address. The following case right after us at the court was also against Action Moving & Storage, and the plaintiffs didn’t look too happy about Action Moving & Storage either.

If you use this company and get screwed, don’t put any efforts in trying to get your money back. They will make your live quite difficult.

Look at all the other reviews on different sites, the stories are all similar: overcharging, rude and confrontational, delays in delivery and so on.
