America's Service Station/ Doug Smith...owner Work without approval Dacula Georgia

Beware getting an estimate at this location. I took my vehicle in to get an estimate and to assess the problem with my brakes. They pulled my vehicle onto the rack and proceeded to take off my front and rear tires to check the brakes. I stood outside during this process. Once, the mechanic went to head inside to let the owner, Doug, know what the problem was, I followed and went into the office. The owner then got on the phone, so he could get prices for parts.

When he got off the phone, he approached me. I was standing at the counter. He then told me that my rear brakes were fine, but I needed new rotors and pads on the front. He stated that there was no pad left and that it started to scrape metal to metal.
He then told me that it also needed to be flushed and greased. Then he gave me a price of $512. I almost fainted! I could not believe that it would be that much. So, then I asked him how much without the greasing and flushing. He said that it would still be close to $400. I told him that there was NO WAY that I could afford that. Then he told me that I definitely did not need to be driving my vehicle anywhere, because it was unsafe. I then asked him if I could leave it parked there, in their parking lot until I could figure out what to do. He stated that there was not a problem with that.
I told him that I would be backby the next day to remove it from their lot. Then he asked me did I need a ride home. I told him that I would appreciate that.
I got home and called around to check prices on rotors and pads. I spoke to a parts place and they ordered the rotors for pick-up the next day. Then, I called another service station and found out that the labor to put those on for me was only going to run me approximately $100-$125. I told them that I would be there the next day.
Well, needless to say, I was relieved that I would not have to spend out $400-$512. Heck, even the almost $200 I would have to spend was still a stretch, because I am a single mom.
I recieved a phone call from Doug, and he stated that my vehicle was ready to be picked up. I said what do you mean. He then said that it had been pulled outside. I then asked him one more time what the price he quoted me was just to install rotors and pads. Then Doug stated that it would have been....so I stopped him right there. I said would have been, and he stated that they had already done the work.
Then I told him that I never authorized any work to be done. He said that I did and that if I had not that they never would have offered me a ride. So, needless to say that I had to fork over the money to get my vehicle out. So remember that if you drop your car off for an estimate to these people, that even without your authorization, they may do the work anyways. I am taking them to court and have already been informed that I have a case.
