Around December 19th, I found out that I would be starting chemotherapy, and would be hospitalized for a month for evaluations and observations. I knew that I would have bills to take care of during that time, and called AmigoEnergy to find out my options and take care of all that I could before I was unable to. At the time I called in, I spoke with a woman named Angel, who informed me that I could do a payment arrangement, and take care of all of it until February. I went ahead with that process, and her supervisor/manager Manuel called me back 2-3 days later, to let me know that I was approved. This was all done even before my next bill was due.

I was just released from the hospital this morning, and came home to find a disconnect notice. I called and explained that I had a payment arrangement, only to be told that I, in fact, did not have a payment arrangement... and not only that, they have no record of me even calling in December. The 3 service reps that I spoke with all demanded payment by credit or debit card over the phone right then. I declined, asked to speak with a supervisor, who told me that I had to pay right then with a debit or credit card, over the phone. He then told me that it's not his problem that I'm in this situation, and that I should pay more attention to my bills, since obviously someone checked my mail while I was in the hospital (this is true, however, the disconnect notice just came in the mail yesterday...)

I called my parents, and also a consumer rights lawyer to explain what was going on... my parents agreed to help me out (because dealing with chemo for a month, and then dealing with this the day that I get out of the hospital is a little bit unreasonable, and my mom witnessed me calling in and setting this all up originally). I call back in and tell the customer service agent that I'm going to pay the full amount, by debit card. I'm then told I can't. Their system won't let me pay the amount period. I'm scheduled to be disconnected tomorrow, even though I've done everything they've told me to do, and it's all my fault because my account wasn't notated properly.

I have been called a liar, a dead beat, and a thief today by their customer service agents. I've been told one story, only to have someone else tell me something wildly different. I'm now being told that if I want to switch companies, I have to pay a $250 early termination fee, because I signed a 24 month contract... I never signed a contract, never agreed to a contract, and certainly never agreed to a 24 month contract (my lease term at my apartment is only 12 months, and I knew it would be temporary).

I cannot get the same answers from any of their customer service agents. Everyone I have spoken to there is extremely rude, barely speaks english, and demands things that I have no reasonable way of providing... like wanting me to confirm that the ESI # on my meter is what they are saying it is... I have explained to them several times that I am a cancer patient, I do not have the ability to walk outside and go dig around in bushes... so they tell me to have someone else do it for me. One lady told me to ask my neighbors to do it for me. They've already confirmed everything else on my account, why do they need the ESI #?

I just got an email from them, asking me to take care of this immediately or face disconnection tomorrow, and they provide a link to their site... EXCEPT when you click on the link, the service is disabled.

They cannot get their acts together at all.
