Im writing to dispute $598.50.  The original amount of the work was $798.50. On 3/24/10 there was a sewage back up in our rental property. The renter Chadd Warwick called me and said his company had worked with ARS Rescue Rooter and they could come out immediately. I agreed and Jeff from ARS called me and told me the price. Having NEVER had to deal with such a problem, I agreed and gave him my card number. My husband (who usually deals with these things) was out of town in meetings, so not wanting our renters to live in backed up sewage, I agreed.  The plumber was there about an hour and the problem was resolved. I asked for a copy of the receipt and was told it would be mailed immediately. Later that evening I relayed the problem to my husband and he hit the roof and said something like that should cost 1/3 of what they charged us. I said I would be receiving a copy of the invoice and would follow up the next day.

The next day (3/25) I called the main number for the company and was told the area managers deal with pricing issues. I was given the managers number in the Denver office at 9:30 and left a message for Don the Manager. I didnt hear back and called him back at 3:45. He said he would pull the invoice and call me right back. He did call back at 4:05 and said the files were locked up in payroll and he would call me back before 10:00 am the next day. I asked if he were the manager and he said he was, so I asked him if he had keys to unlock that office? He said no.

On the 26th I waited till 11:00 and not having heard from him left Don a message again. I never heard back from him. On 3/31 Don did call and wanted to know what I expected. I said I was promised a copy of the invoice but had never received one and was trying to get estimates. He asked if I was asking about warranties and some other items, and again I told him I didnt know what I was asking for since I still had not received a copy of the work done. Don said he would put a copy in the mail that day and would call me on Friday 4/2 to discuss. He also said his manager had said we had received a discount of $162 from the technician and that was all he could do.

He called on 4/8 and we were out of town( but had not received anything when we left), so I said I would deal with it when we returned. Upon our return it was in the mail and I called 3 random local companies to discuss what was done and that estimate. The estimates were:

1`. Precision Plumbing 303-586-6407. I was told the cost for the main line was $159 and that should take care of any problems. Same day service was no extra cost

2. Denvers 99 Rooter 720-276-9900. The estimate was $99 for the main line and should any other lines need cleaning it would be a portion of the main line cost. Same day service was no extra cost.

3. Rooter PHD 303-920-4911 The estimate for the main line was $85 and was told that should take care of any problems. Same day service was no extra cost.

4. ARS Rescue Rooter 303-360-6886 I called to see what kind of estimate the company were having the dispute would quote me, and was told they are not allowed to give estimates over the phone. How convenient. 

Since then I contacted the corporate offices in Memphis TN and talked to Ryan on 5/17 who assured me he would check it out and get back to me. I received a call later that day and a voice mail from Renee saying Dennis (the General Mgr) said the matter was closed. I called Ryan back and asked if that was his response and he said yes. I asked if he thought it was OK for a general mgr to dismiss a customer complaint having never talked to me and then having his assistant call me - he can't even call himself?? Ryan said that was the final word and I'm mad!!!
