Last week (October 10, 2008) I tried to establish service with AT&T - I was trying to get a bundle which included cable, internet, house phone and cellular service.

The Rep from AT&T (who said her name was Gaby) asked me for personal information to set up the account (which seemed understandable to me at the time). The AT&T Rep and I went through each service they were offering and what I wanted and could afford to pay. When it came to the cellular service, I did not agree on what they were offering and told her that I would NOT be taking any of their services.

Needless to say the AT&T Rep was VERY upset and told me that she has already (without my consent) charged my credit card for the cable service (Dish). I told her to cancel whatever she had done without my permission and asked for a cancellation number. She said no cancellation number was available and not to worry it was all cancelled.

On October 17, 2008 my daughter's cellular number stopped working. I called our current carrier T-Mobile and they informed me that the number was Ported out by AT & T. That was the beginning of my ordeal! Late that Friday after being 4 hours on the phone with Reps from AT& T Fraud Department and T-Mobile Fraud Department they were able to give my number back. (P.S. We have 4 family members in our current plan) I was informed that my cell number was on its way out, too but it was stopped. Next day a lady calls on my cell line and says that she got this number when she bought a new telephone. I told her of my problem and that she should contact AT&T.

THEN yesterday, October 21, 2008 my daughter was without service again! Guess what happened? AT&T Ported out my cellular number again (using my cellular number and social security to accomplish this) This is IDENTITY THEFT AT & T is profitting selling my cellular number to another client (twice in less than one week).

Today (October 22, 2008) I have been on the phone with AT& T Fraud Dept. trying to get the number back for the past 4 hours! The only thing I get is run around. Listen to this they say they cannot give me my number back YET because they are concerned for their customer that they have to contact their customer first! Bottom line, my child does NOT have her cell number and ATT is responsible!

How can they do this when I never set up an account with them? Is this legal? What are my options? Has this happened to anyone else?

Please help me, I am very desperate, I am very anxious because I expect that any minute they are going to take one of my family members cellular numbers and my family will be starnded without cell service!

Thank you for your help!
