At&t has a new scam where when you first signup for a 2 year service contract they bill you for 2 months or a month in advance .If you happen to cancel your contract before the 2 years is up they suddenlly develop amnesia and claim they have been billing you on a month by month basis....Look at your" STATEMENT DATE" and "BILLING PERIOD' on the same bill you will see different months. The billing "PERIOD" is actually the month you are paying for and not what is listed on top of the bill as the "STATEMENT DATE". they are ripping of alot of unsuspecting individuals with this one.
"STATEMENT DATE' ...really means when your paper bill was printed and not the month of service you are actually paying for
'BILLING PERIOD"....is the months you are actually paying for when you send payment

#1 UPDATE EX-employee responds
Billing in advance

ATT like many companies, bills in advance. If you signed up for service 04/13/2010 and your billing cycle date (when your minutes refresh, and your bill for that month generates) is 04/14/2010, then you'll be charged for the FIRST PARTIAL MONTH: 04/13/2010-04/14/2010 which is one day, and the next full month afterwards. This would cause a bill consisting of 31 days. This is in addition to any activation fees, equipment, etc, and all monthly service charges on the bill would be billed the same way. If you happened to start service on 04/15/2010 and your cycle date was 04/14/2010, then you would be billed the first partial month 04/15/2010 - 05/14/2010, and the next full month afterward: 05/14/2010-06/14/2010. This would cause 59 day bill, and may seem to most people as "double billing" especially if there was equipment, etc involved. The reason that you see the next month in advance on your bill under the monthly service charges is because they are BILLING YOU IN ADVANCE.
