In Louisville, we were hit with hail damage a few months agao. An adjuster came to the house and two weeks later I received checks in the mail but no idea for what or what to fix.
Then we find out just last week that the vinyl siding on the house cannot be matched up. I may be wrong to assume but I am under the impression that if it cannot be matched then it needs to be replaced. My neighborhood has been geeting some 50 homes with all the vinyl siding replaced and my neighbor has the same siding as I do and and only had damage on the front of his home and his insurance company is replacing all the siding.
Today I was informed that the insurance company got some report back that states there is no match but the vinyl is paintable. Funniest thing I have ever heard since vinyl siding is meant to deter painting. So I called Paul Wesley and he advised me that they have a "Close" match that isnt even within 2 hours of here and that they can paint a third side of the home to match the new vinyl in the front and on the other side. So 50% damage, 25% paintable and another 25% is nnot their concern according to Ron Beldon the branch manager.
Here is the interesting part, the manufacturer that they are referring to, same manufacturer that has all of this original siding. So, I call them and they tell me that if we paint the siding then it voids any warranty. WOW voids the warranty and my agency states that this is not their concern.
I called and spoke with Ron Beldon and he states that he is only responsbile for the damaged sinding and that he extended a courtesy to paint my vinyl and if I did not like it then that was tough. I further asked about the mismatch and Ron Beldon gave me this analogy, "If your entire carpet was the same throughout the entire house and one room gets damaged then he is only responsible for the one room".
This company is the biggest run-a-round company out there considering that they are willing to either void your warranty willingly, or put orange siding on 50% of your home and the other 50% is white. Please be aware that they will not work with you unless it cost you and they are only responsible for devaluing the property. That is right, the first insurance company to devalue your property. Good luck and beware considering their corporate office in Lansing, MI backs up their branches. I would not recommend purchasing insurance because quite frankly, they are a rip off. Thanks Ron Beldon and Auto-Owners Insurance
