Beware of National City Bank! This bank will drain your account dry in overdraft charges! They have the absolute worse customer service people that I've ever had to deal with. They don't have a clue what they're talking about. Everytime I turned around, I had overdraft charges to my account. Even when the funds were in my account, they always had some excuse for the NSF's. And beware! They purposely post your transactions so that an overdraft will occur. I gave up trying to keep up with my account.

I went to the bank to close my account after being fed up with losing so much money to NCB. At that time, the teller disposed of my debit card because it was no longer valid & I was no longer able to access my account online. I had a zero balance when I left the bank. A small check that had never been cashed, showed up & was run through my "closed" account. Instead of National City returning the check "Account Closed," I was charged $34 & an additional charge of $8 per day that this charge was not paid. I was not even made aware of this until just recently because I found out that National City has been sending any notices to an old P.O. Box # that is no longer even valid. I changed my address with the bank, but the people that work there, are not the sharpest tools in the shed! Needless to say, I never received notices until today. Now I owe National City Bank nearly $600!

I strongly advise anyone not to do business with this bank. They have no morals & will steal you blind! That's how they make their money!

Once Again

AUTHOR: Tony M. - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, April 21, 2009

Warms my heart to see Abigail flapping her gums like usual. Go ride you high horse else where wench!!

Yet, another prime example of why NCB needs to go under and fail like a lot of other banks need to do. Why is my tax money going to these banks for? I'm sick of my money going to bail out morons like NCB that can't even manage their affairs correctly. Yet, it's the tax payers job to bail these dimwits out? Hell with that. I've sense left NCB because of questionable business practices and I'm much better off for it!

All hail the day Bad business's like NCB go under and shut down. We'll all be better off in the long run.

P.S. Better start looking for a new job soon Abigail!

Perhaps you would prefer the alternative...

...which is to have the merchant press criminal charges against you for writing a bad check against a closed account. Forget the $600 that you are out, imagine how fun your life will be with a criminal record stapled to your forehead.

Oh, and one more thing: Just wait until you try to open another account subsequent to this experience. NCB will likely report you to ChexSystems, which will prevent you from opening accounts at most local and national banks and/or allow RM at your current bank to close you down, freeze your funds, and mail them to you 8-10 weeks from now.

Welcome to the consequences of your actions, for which YOU are to blame. No rip-off here on the part of the bank.

#2 Consumer Suggestion

Banks no longer return items as "account closed".

AUTHOR: Nikki - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, August 30, 2008

Do you know why? Because in the past, people used to write checks. Then when they realized they did not have enough money to cover them, they would close their accounts and the banks would return the checks as "account closed". It really benefitted those who did this because then they didn't owe their banks for NSF fees, they only had to pay the merchants they swindled.

The banks realized they should make money off people who did this, so they stopped sending back items as "account closed" and began charging the fees.

Before anyone decides to close their account, make sure all checks you have written have been posted and all credits/debits you made have been posted. If not, either leave enough money in the account or stop payment on them. Closing your account no longer absolves you from bank fees.

What?

AUTHOR: Abigail - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, August 29, 2008

So you openly admit that you write checks and make transactions that you don't have funds for. Also, according to your report, you "forget" about checks. Do you keep a check register?

Before you start blaming the bank, maybe you should start blaming yourself. Read your account agreement before you sign it.
